Starlink Mission

Starlink Mission

????

SpaceX is targeting Sunday, August 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET (01:00 UTC on August 7) for a Falcon 9 launch of 22 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base in Florida. If needed, there are up to four additional launch opportunities the same day starting at 9:50 p.m. ET (1:50 UTC) until 12:22 a.m. ET August 7 (4:22 UTC). Up to five backup opportunities are also available on Monday, August 7 starting at 8:35 p.m. ET (00:35 UTC August 8) until 11:57 p.m. ET (3:57 UTC). This is the fourth flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched Crew-6, SES O3b mPOWER, and one Starlink mission. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff.

BS! Rocket ditches into the sea level at 10:33, and then they immediately switch to animation.

I watched this last night directly west of Cape Canaveral from the Gulf Coast of Florida and it was clear as could be even 150 miles away. It was bright red-orange with the exhaust plume angled toward me going southeast. It peeked up from the trees about 15 seconds after liftoff like a big red comet. With binoculars you could clearly make out the circular engine mount and the long exhaust trail with the shock diamonds. Then you could actually see MECO and then the dimmer vacuum engine light up and keep going. It was incredible. It never gets old.

"There's that CallOut." "There's that CallOut." "There's that CallOut." Please stop saying that phrase, it is not necessary. You can just expand on the event or issue. We heard the 'callout'. Great coverage as always. Thank you.

To be honest, after seeing the static test from the heavy for at least 20 times, let looks the Falcon 9 like it's made by a group of teenagers in their backyard. Can't say following SpaceX advancements aren't dull, what a company. Hard work pays off, this is the proof.

Amazing stuff, especially knowing my internet is coming from one of these satellites launched just like these. Always fascinated by these launches and recoveries. I do wonder, the tracking and recovery of the first stage. Can that be compared to the "RTH" or ( Return to Home) button on my Mavic drone?? It has to be similar technology, much more complex I'm sure, but similar.
@HarryNicNicholas Says:
also interesting that one side of the fairing is "more experienced" than the other.
@HarryNicNicholas Says:
i guess it's a sign of the times when they say "take the 22 satellites into orbit" and i think "only 22??"

The incremental improvements in photography are a proper treat, it'd be great to see your team detail the progression. Some SpaceX aspirational output suggests orbital refuelling is a milestone: could Falcon 9's capacity be extended by orbital refuelling / second-stage-switch (like a trailer being hitched to a new tractor)? Is a test of either on the cards, independent of the BFR program?

Exactly how much Carbon 🧐 is being added to Global warming 🥵 from each one of these Launches… and there have been How many launches now? What happens if one satellite stops working.? Does it fall to the earth or are we putting more space debris in the atmosphere and when it breaks down, what will that mean for the air?

Think that's the first time i haven't heard a countdown from T-minus 10, or a 'Go Falcon 9, Go Starlink' :(
