Sincere questions: Where in the New Testament does Jesus, or any of his disciples ask any believer to voluntarily participate in something that what lead to them violating the sermon on the mount? How can an active soldier keep from violating the sermon on the mount? So far, all I ever hear is ends-justify-means logic and Old Testamant passages. (The fact that they are not telling a solider to quit doesn't count.)

John the Baptist did not tell the soldier to not commit adultery either. The question is "Can a Christian commit violence?" Jesus told Peter to put up the sword. In telling him that he is telling ALL Christians to put up the sword. Read the Sermon on the Mount, all of it. Then read Romans 12: 14-21. What does the Bible say, not what does the government say. For 300 years after the birth of the church, Christians were pacifist. As were many of the church fathers like Tertullian. Do your homework before making comments.

No, I firmly believe that military is evil and police might be in a gray area. Maybe inside a nation, they are needed to maintain order, but there is nation vs nation war. People make fun of those who say that war is evil, but when war did break-out, they would be aghast of piling dead bodies, broken bones, bloods splattered and children losing fathers. Police are needed to maintain order, but society would always be broken in the first place. For me, to turn the other cheek is the only way to peace - the only way to the Kingdom of God. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Isaiah 2:4 Think about this: If you greet only your brothers, you are no different from sinners who greet their loved ones. If we build military power, we are no different from those atheistic nation-states.

Simple answer no, Christians should not serve in the military, being a police officer is different, but no military, Christians are to love their enemies not pick up a gun and kill and shoot them, if Christians serve in the military you will end up will Christians on both sides killing other Christians for the the agendas of evil satanically controlled world governments,we are not love and not kill our enemies far less each other. Christians should not vote or be involved in the evil politics of this world either.

Tl;dr There is no reconciliation between serving in the U.S. Military and being an obedient child of God. Please, brothers and sisters, help me if you believe my views to be unbiblical. While reading, remember that the commandments of Jesus Christ are our guide and that no worldly necessities, morals, or realities trump those commandments. If at any point while reading this you think "I think", "But we need", or anything among those lines remember that you are a slave and christ is the master you should be thinking what he said or didn't say what he told or to belive or not believe. Yes I do believe(because Jesus said so) that every individual is permitted by God to take the life of another in the persuit of defending their own or that of those around them. Here we have a question that is not explicitly covered in the Bible, so we must rely on examples and applicable teachings. When we consider whether Jesus would have joined the military—or whether any of His disciples would have—it’s crucial to reflect on their actions and the principles they stood for. It’s worth contemplating if someone like Simon Peter might have been drawn to such a path. However, we must remember that all of Peter's violent acts, including his defense of Jesus during the false arrest, were rebuked by the King of Peace. Jesus fought his battles in the spiritual realm against the forces of darkness, even stating that He had the power to call legions of angels to destroy His enemies. Therefore, we must conclude that the answer to our question is a resounding no. Some may argue that the "What Would Jesus Do?" (WWJD) principle doesn't apply in all situations. If we set that aside and apply the core teachings of Jesus, we see that He is dedicated to peace. As Christians, we too are called to embody that peace—there is no need for further debate. This peace encompasses a commitment to non-violence. But what happens when we face persecution or are under threat? It can be tempting to consider might over moral teachings, but we must turn to Matthew 5:38-42. Jesus clearly instructs us on how to respond, leaving little room for misinterpretation. As Christians, we are described as slaves and bondservants of Christ, meaning His commandments are final and there is no wiggle room in our obedience. Disobedience invites serious consequences. It may not be a sin for a Swiss man to join the Swiss military or for a Japanese man to serve in the Japan Self-Defense Forces. However, we must ask ourselves whether it is appropriate for an American—or for the majority of Christians in any country—to join their military forces. The answer becomes evident: these organizations often operate under values and practices that contradict God's commandments. They are not solely focused on defending their territory and people; they also engage in the protection of national interests, which diverges sharply from the pure ideals of “defend and protect.” In nations like the United States, where military actions may stray from divine principles, joining such forces—whether military or police—becomes a matter of grave concern. God does not allow for middle ground; you are either with Him or against Him, a child of His kingdom or an enemy of His purposes. That said, I acknowledge the necessity of a military for the maintenance of order in our world. The truth is that without a military, our nation would undoubtedly be in a vulnerable state. Yet, while this is a worldly truth, it pales compared to the eternal truth of Jesus Christ—one based on non-retaliation and divine peace. Let those who choose to disobey Christ fill the ranks of the military; that seems to be the current reality. But we, as Christians, must rise above the fray and choose the path of peace that Christ has laid before us. In doing so, we affirm our commitment to His teachings and showcase the transformative power of His love in every aspect of our lives.

Does God approve of all religions? Are there any religions disapproved by God? The Christian faith has thousands of denominations, estimates of 37,000 with conflicting teachings and beliefs. In the Bible at Matthew 7: 13–23 Jesus stated the following [ASV] Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.14 For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. The so called “Christian” faith has a long record of its fruitage beginning in the first century up to the present for all to see. What does this fruitage show? Have the many denominations of Christendom practiced the teachings of Jesus? Does the God who inspired the writings of the holy scriptures approve of those who claim to represent Him and his son? In his famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: “Love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27, 35) His words mean that we should act lovingly toward those who hate us or treat us unjustly. Jesus demonstrated love for his enemies by forgiving those who mistreated him. (Luke 23:33, 34) His teachings about loving our enemies harmonize with what is stated in the Hebrew Scriptures, commonly called the Old Testament.—Exodus 23:4, 5; Proverbs 24:17; 25:21. Perhaps you may agree that many things done in the name of religion are not approved by God. During the recent world wars, which many persons now living survived, the religions on both sides encouraged their people to kill. “Kill Germans—do kill them,” said the bishop of London. And, on the other side, the archbishop of Cologne told Germans: “We command you in the name of God, to fight to the last drop of your blood for the honor and glory of the country.” So Catholics killed Catholics with the approval of their religious leaders, and Protestants did the same. We mustn't overlook the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with the Eastern Orthodox churches on both sides condoning the brutality, suffering and death of many who claim to be Christian. And what about the current religious war between Jews and Muslims, both sides claim to worship God? Regarding the Christian faith, clergyman Harry Emerson Fosdick admitted: “Even in our churches we have put the battle flags . . . With one corner of our mouth we have praised the Prince of Peace and with the other we have glorified war.” How do you think God feels about a religion that claims to do his will but glorifies war?. Because of the crimes committed in the name of God by the members of many different religions throughout history, millions of persons today have turned away from God and Christ. They blame God for the terrible religious wars, such as those between Catholics and Muslims called the Crusades, the wars between Muslims and Hindus, and the wars between Catholics and Protestants. They point to the murder of Jews in the name of Christ, and the cruel Catholic inquisitions. Yet, even though the religious leaders responsible for such horrible crimes claimed God as their Father, were they not just as much children of the Devil as were the Pharisees whom Jesus condemned? Since Satan is the god of this world, should we not expect that he also controls the religions practiced by people of the world?—2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 12:9. Who is practicing true religion today? If you think you are a true disciple of Christ remember his words "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. The apostle Paul wrote these words to the Corinthian brothers - [2Co 11:12-15 NLT] 12 But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours. 13 These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve. No doubt Jesus must feel hurt and disappointed at the religious hypocrisy practiced by the clergy along with other Christian leaders who claim to represent the God who is the true author of the Bible.

So you think it’s a lesser of two evils argument? Yeah, cops might protect some innocent person from evil, but they’re also putting Christians in prison for possessing a plant that God created, or an animal that God created, which the government has written on a piece of paper that you can’t do. I don’t think you can be a Christian and be in the military where you sign your mind away and swear to kill anybody they tell you to, since all recent wars over the past century have been just political world banker wars. I just heard the end as I’m writing this and it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Police are completely immoral and unaccountable to any authority or accountability. They’re doing a job for money which requires them to make as many arrest as possible so they can get promotions and overtime and the state can get more money for the number of bodies they have in prison. You can’t be a practicing Christian and be a law-enforcement officer in America.

The biggest issue is that wars for defense or to go to war to stop a ruthless army from conquering is a lot more cut and dry than random mini wars that we have today. Take Afghanistan for example, the US went there to stop terror, Al Qaeda specifically. Sure we did some good there and helped to fight the Taliban when we were there, but we stayed there for 20 years long after Osama bin Laden was dead, and after leaving, the Taliban just took everything back. What was the point of all that violence? Now let's look at Iraq which looking back, has no real reason why we invaded it. Sure, Saddam wasn't a great man by any means, but Iraq now is much worse than Iraq under his control. So what about all those deaths? US service members joined to protect our country and our values and many served with good intentions... but how does that justify all the innocent Iraqi citizens who were killed? Or... why do we fly half way around the world to bomb countries and wage years of war for controversial, when violence is happening practically on our doorstep where the US military could be deployed to fight and eliminate some people doing some real harm like the cartels and ruthless gangs involved in the US black market? It's a super complex issue, but it's something that in my opinion cannot be glossed over with statements like protecting our freedom or its the politicians. Jesus calls us to uphold justice but many times I am asking myself, how is what we are doing justice?

1 Corinthians 7:23 "You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men." An enlistment contract is a precisely becoming a bondservant to the State. It's directly banned by the Scripture. Now, if you're already there, God doesn't tell you to leave, you can serve the LORD where you are. That doesn't change that a Christian shouldn't "enslave" themselves to men. You cannot serve two masters and you *will* have to choose, so enslaving yourselves to men is folly. -A Marine 2004-2008
