I believe US have threatened to shut it off after nordstream disaster.

This entire vid is a pile mate. Even a cursory glance at starlinks website gives clues to why its costing so much - plans there range up to 25k per month... not 150. Ask the same of any mobile provider.... a business/military plan will cost multiples more than a 'personal' one. Same goes for vehicles... a military spec hummer costs more than your average h3. Clearly the military can just use h3s right? right? SMH. And so far as I can tell... musk stated the 'usual cost' of the plan, not the amount he's charging Ukraine. IE net revenue loss, not what he was charging. FUCK mate its on the very vid you were watching if you screenshoted it 1/2 a second earlier... they claim the net COST is about 21m a month - just over 1k per service... not 4500. Its on the NEXT fucking LINE for gods sake. Similar to the # you get by dividing 400m by 20k, and then by 12... 1600 per month. but nah, cnn told you 4500 so thats what it is. And further, 'it doesn't cost extra now the systems in place' - fucking bulshit. Tell that to your ISP, or web service provider, or mobile provider or ANY other infrastructure provider... 'oh hey you've built it so it doesn't cost anything more to run for 4-5x the users'. oh and blocking someone is not censorship... fuck me... all musk did is say 'im not talking to you'... he (alex) is still active in 2023... even on X. Not censored at all. Fuck me mate... the musk hate is clouding your judgement something fierce. I expect better than this from you... cause this is nonsense. 58 seconds on https://edition.cnn.com/videos/tech/2022/10/14/elon-musk-company-spacex-ukraine-russia-marquardt-ebof-pkg-vpx.cnn

Just Curious about something from this video that is over a year old. Thunderf00t's hate boner for Musk is well documented, as is his Twitter slacktivism for Ukraine. But I was wondering, especially now that Ukraine and Zelenskyy are reduced to begging for support, what would a fairly successful Doctor/Scientist/Youtuber like Thunderf00t be willing to donate in order to keep sending Ukrainian men out to die on the front lines? I mean, Elon Musk is not willing to give out free internet or anything. But maybe a super soiboi like Thunderf00t would be willing to help pay for it?

The biggest military application for Starlink is simply long-range communication. A good example would be its use by Ukrainian troops in Mariupol. According to some officers, they had very big problems with communication until they got the Starlink delivered to them. Another use, as I understand, was for controlling sea drones that attacked Russian navy ships.

Starlink in Ukraine is massively used by Ukrainian troops. For example, for comms, and to transmit video and imagery from drones. As military equipment goes, $4000 per month is almost nothing. A single 152 or 155mm shell costs ~$3000. They are fired in the thousands every day, and anything that helps them land on targets worth its weight in gold.

What still boggles me is that people are like "he's a philanthropist whose motivation is the betterment of humanity", but everytime I might want to give the man the benefit of the doubt there's always more to the story, I was so close to with Ukraine as well, like, maybe I hate him but I am glad people are so against this war and that people are chipping it and that he choose to do some good. I like to give credit where it's due. And then the examples of "good guy Elon" not being "good guy Elon" are damning: "I will buy Twitter to save free speech, it's not about the money, I am a free speech absolutist" "I will not buy Twitter, because I am paying too much for it even though it's what I agreed and was allegedly prepared to pay." "I have bought Twitter because it turns out I cannot back out this late in the game. Also, this is not a platform for free speech absolutism and here, I don't know how to run a social media company and lets make all these detrimental decisions in the name of saving money & increasing profit. But it's not about the money, it's free speech...please pay $8 a month to elevate your speech above others'" "I will work with Bill Gates on this charitable thing because I am sure a good guy who cares" "I will not work with Bill Gates because it turns he is short selling Tesla stock and now I will keep feeding bad press about him. That's more important than the people I'd have helped." "I will donate Starlink to Ukraine to aid their efforts, because I am a good guy and the war is wrong." "I have backlash from Russia" "I will negotiate a deal that favours Russia not Ukraine." "Turns out Ukraine didn't like that & had some choice words to say about it. Well miraculously Starlink is getting too expensive to run, see these are the running costs, which are a tiny fraction of my wealth. Somebody will have to pay up." "I will save those minors with my outlandish idea, because I am good guy" "Oh somebody has the audacity to criticise me for a PR stunt & to rescue them himself, well time to call the guy a pedo" "Twitter should be apolitical without bias & not favour any political leaning, and I believe in combatting misinformation" "BTW I am going to push a load of pro-Republican BS and conspiracy theories and keep putting out misinformation, including harmful stuff, to you know, really show my commitment to this cause. Oh and don't be concerned that 'Truth AI' will be a platform for misinformation.". "The UN has claims about how much money is needed to solve world hunger, I will pay the money is they can provide their data to show this." -The UN Provides this- "This is bullshit, and I won't give the money, regardless of how many people it could actually help. But you know, for the betterment of humanity and all that." Like believe the guy can do what he likes with his money, whilst I will have disagreements about how hording wealth is an immoral thing (not to be confused with 'being rich') at least accept he's not the "good guy Elon" he tries to present himself as.

In the past I never paid for my satellite TV equipment, before, just a crazy bill to watch an all new season of Anthony Bourdain...12 new episodes. Talk about taking the word season literally at 3 months. Cancel service, I'm not paying $75 a month to watch reruns most of the year.
