In all honesty, I had I had associated Gingrich with some scandals in his past. So some quick Google searches did remind of his serious personal moral scandals, such as abandonment of his wife with cancer and serial adultery. In addition, he had numerous, I believe well founded ethical complaints while a Congressman. (And as an aside I do not believe his political platform while a politician was necessarily enlightened.)
