Thank you for sharing your views. As a Christian who believes in the doctrines of grace, I do not believe that non-Calvinistic soteriology will lead to hell. However, my major issue with non-Calvinists is that they are gradually introducing liberal, open theology, and lgbtq+ views into the church. Yes, there are moral failings among Calvinistic preachers, but congregations and preachers (with the exception of a few) with non-Calvinistic soteriology appear to be very liberal in their thinking. Calvinistic preachers, on the other hand, are excellent Bible expositors.

Calvinism is the theology and doctrine of John Calvin, not of the Bible. Calvinist greatly Misunderstand the definition of the word Sovereignty. The Biblical and correct definition of Sovereignty is that God is the ultimate Supreme uncreated Being who answers to no other being outside himself for permission. The Calvinist definition of Sovereignty is that God ordains every facet of our lives, what we say, wear and eat. There’s far, far too much to go into, but Calvinism is false man made doctrine.

You took the verse of context that "God gives you the desires of your heart." The verse is, "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give you the desires of your heart" (Ps. 37:4). Satan was not delighting himself in the Lord. Satan was able to choose sin just as Adam was able to choose sin since both at one time were sinless. We, on the other hand, are conceived in sin. We are already sinners and do not need to choose to sin.

2:28 Frank with all due respect, you are shoving words into RC Sproul’s mouth and misrepresenting his view on this issue. It is a fact that RC Sproul was an Infralapsarian, meaning he believed that Adam used his freewill to do evil but Sproul admittedly couldn’t explain how that freewill was capable of evil so he left it at saying there must be other elements at play that we don’t understand, aka mystery. There are some other Calvinists (called Supralapsarians) who say God gave Adam that evil desire and that explains how Adam was capable of evil but now the issue is how could God be just? And those Calvinists would say “God certainly is just but there must be more elements at play we don’t understand so it’s a mystery at this point.” So you see, it just depends on where you want to place the mystery.. RC Sproul is on record saying that he would rather question the nature of freewill rather than to question Gods justice, and Sproul was a self declared Infralapsarian (not a supralapsarian). This is a matter of public record on Ligonier’s archives during a QnA session at one of there conferences. (I can’t remember which one but I’ll try to find it if anyone cares to hear it.) Please don’t slander Sproul’s memory like you are or imply that Sproul ever believed that God was the author of sin (may it never be!)

We love God so much and have such a great passion for His grace and power that we want to tell all the world that if they're lucky enough to be predestined by God, they too can believe in Him. Fingers crossed! My question is why do have to explain how God works sovereignly AND still allows the operation of free will at the same time? For that matter, CAN we? Isn't it possible that this mystery is simply not fathomable or definable by finite man and maybe, just maybe, we are perverting truth by trying to define it? Let God be God and let us simply believe that He is mighty to save to the utmost.

We evangelize because its a command from Christ. Of course God can and will do whatever he pleases and nothing can thwart His will. He does not need us. Yet He CHOOSES to use men to bring others to saving faith through evangelism and ministry. In other words, the secondary cause of evangelism and apologetics is just as real and necessary as the primary cause of regeneration, which makes evangelism effective in the first place. Now a question for Frank and Leighton. When YOU evangelise and the person you spoke to DOES NOT come to Christ, do you consider that a failure? If God is not the primary cause of that person coming to faith, then how are YOU not responsible for not being persuasive enough? Or compassionate enough? How can you say definitively that that person would not have believed if YOU had responded differently to their objection or had ministered more effectively? It is precisely this conundrum that I believe has motivated so many non-reformed churches to try and make the Church more worldly and tolerant of sin, so as to make the Church more appealing to those who would otherwise reject Christ. Meanwhile, those of us who DO believe the teaching of scripture regarding the state of man in his spiritual deadness know that it is always a miracle of God that a person comes to faith in Christ. That it is always because of His intention and successful intervention in that person's heart which NECESSARILY results in their salvation. Hence we do not feel any urgency to sacrifice holiness (which would be a sin btw) in order to make the Gospel more appealing. It is ALWAYS unappealing apart from the salvific grace of God in regeneration.

I feel there is a slight misunderstanding of what free will is, man certainly has free will, but this free will is in the context of his fallen nature. Lions eat meat, but CAN a lion eat grass, (with regards to ability), YES. But does it eat grass? Absolutely not. do we know how free will works pre-fall? I reckon we don't, certainly with respect to the full scope of it. But we know 1 thing, comparing Adam & Lucifer, both clearly had the ability to choose good or evil. And that choice was not made under the fallen human condition. Where did Lucifer's have desire come from?? Bible does not say, and Frank you've indicated several times that evil is defined on the back of good, anything that deviates from the perfect nature of God is evil. So in essence, it is like asking "Where did evil come from?" No one can answer that. Somebody correct me, where is the contradiction?? But man in this fallen nature has absolutely no proclivity or inclination to the things of God, neither does he possess any ability to do good in and of himself. The question concerning Lucifer is something we cannot possibly know from this side of eternity, so Gerstner answered correctly, anything we say concerning where his desire came from will be a guess.

All it took was 12 homeless young lads to get this Gospel message into ALL the earth. I urge any Christian to go and not be slothful but study with vigor, study history, every century and all of its highlights. The early church fathers, Apostolic Orthodox/Patristics (i.e. Patristic Era/Patristic Literature) Study ethics.. Atheism can be traced back to the 'Philosophy of the Atomic Self'. . A rather selfish belief system... Known in history as the philosophy to end all ethics. The Judeo Ethic changed world history, as promised through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Ethic that changed world history had to be tediously and intricately taught to the ancients of the old testament whom came out of all of those foul lands of lawlessness such as Mesopotamia, Babylon, Assyria. . The Amorites, Amalekites, Midianites, these were of the seed of Noah and Abraham. . They were not "the lost" they were those that knew the Covenant, yet strayed intentionally into lawlessness... The museums show us the brutality of those civilizations. . God endured with that for 400 years before initiating the command to wipe out certain civilizations and place plagues upon other civilizations while yet allowing some to remain... The giver of Life, the One God not afraid of this system of free-agency He established, but established for the knowledge of good and the progression of life. We made the solid decision to disregard a single command that needed established by a Lawgiving, covenant keeping God in a place of Paradise, a state of blessedness. Where there are Laws, there are lines you do not cross. Hence, telling the Israelites that adultery is wrong in the old testament was consistent with quarantining your physical body from such grave risks of diseases and mass STDs spreading rampant and ending the building up of civilizations... Jesus comes along and still stands for that but then presses upon the human soul..

If we can never be good enough in God's eyes and by ourselves we can't do anything about this issue except by believing in jesus and having him do it all for us, then what are we doing here? It's actually almost just like Calvinism. It's as if it is already decreed exactly what will happen. The only difference is as opposed to Calvinism, it will depend on just one thing...do you believe in jesus dying for you or not. <<@Called_Out_Ones
says :
Calvinism does NOT make God evil. Everything God does, is for His glory. He allowed evil to exist so that from it, His goodness shines brighter than the dawn. He allowed Satan to be evil. He allowed all of humanity to be in sin, He allowed humanity's evil to exhaust itself to the point of crucifying the ONLY GOOD MAN that ever lived - The Son of Man. He Himself created Hell, to punish Satan and His angels and those who He has NOT chosen. He saves, regenerates, sustains, preserves the faith of, and is faithful to persevere His saints to the end. Arminianism may not answer the questions about God's Sovereignty the same way, but is immensely practical for evangelism, apologetics, and for active repentance in Sanctification. The arguments tend to go nowhere because the two positions are different lenses: one view is panoramic, and broad - "God is completely Sovereign - omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent/knowing God's mind, His heart, and knowing as much about God through scripture as possible/and seeing His good plan throughout the Biblical narrative" vs a narrower focused view on one's personal walk - following Jesus through devotion/fellowship/repentance/prayer/evangelism, asking in faith, asking in doubt, sometimes not knowing, but actively praying, actively serving, actively going (sharing Gospel) - being responsible. When does everyone stop arguing? When we sing for 1 hour at church about how glorious Our Savior is, and How He saved such wretched people like ourselves by being nailed to a tree.
