In my university's digital signal processing course, one chapter is dedicated to the Fourier Transform and Fast Fourier Transform. I found it very difficult to understand and couldn't implement it myself. I only called the library and used it for the final project. Mathematicians don't get enough respect, imho. It shows, among many other things, how influential and necessary intelligence has been in human history. Not for just a few people, but the masses whom the few rely on to accept their contributions with graceful ignorance. I am nearing 40 and recently decided to relearn maths from basic arithmetic to geometry. It's amazing how much more intuitive and how much less mystical it all is when concepts are understood versus simply applying rules. I thank channels like this for piquing my interest enough to re-engage in academia.
