I’d disagree with “that’s not your goal”. As a Christian your goal should always be to make disciples of all nations and even if some have hardened hearts and won’t convert it’s always the goal to be the helping hand to convert non believers to believe.

As a Christian I am a bit offended by what Frank said in this YouTube short. Why is that? Because the goal is to lead people to Christ. If Frank's goal is to encourage Christians and put a stone in the shoe of skeptics, (Greg Kokul's philosophy and goal), then it doesn't seem that this is being done for Christ. I get that the goal is not to convince anyone and I don't think we as Christians should put forth effort in convincing people. However, we should be doing this for Christ. Frank's answer is a disgrace. One thing Frank should keep in mind is that there are people listening and there will be those who may come to know Christ. My questions to Frank: Why are you doing apologetics if your goal is encourage Christians and put a stone in the shoe of skeptics? Are you doing apologetics to lead people to Christ?

I always see Atheists call out Frank for not convincing them as if some check mate sort of thing. Only God opens the heart and only if you are willing. Apologetics foremost is only ever giving reason for our faith and the hope we hold. Many who hold a naturalistic worldview believe it to be the absolute truth, it may be the case but also maybe not and we need to be able to have calm open and honest conversations with respect. Christians and Atheists have failed at this, which is why apologetics is more for us so we can be better as believers. I think it's interesting to note that although not all people who hold a naturalistic worldview have done objectively evil things, the reality is a worldview apart from Christianity have arguably commited far more evil. In their view there is no God so anything He did or didn't do in the Bible is of no consequence. So you're left with just the impact of human beings. No one is denying the faults of various churches and Christians but compared to Christ they were in error and it is in contradiction to the Bible. However those of a non-theistic view have commited atrocities which is not in contradiction to their worldview. Examine history and you will find the early church championed values not found in the world at the time such as placing inherent worth and value on otherwise discarded children, preaching value to those who would simply have been seen as property and abhorred practises that harmed people.

I disagree with the statement, "that's not my goal" The goal isn't to win an argument either. Our prayer should always be to have a desire that others will come to know Christ. It is not by our power that someone will be saved, therefore, that gives us the heart to depend on the work of the holy spirit as we make him known. The power is in the gospel as we preach it.

There you go. Encourage the Christians by trying to give them (theoretically) less for which to need faith. Very telling. Guys like Turek and Craig give very poor arguments to support their positions in an effort to give Christians the impression that their Christianity makes rational sense, all the while they make millions of dollars being Christian apologist “pop stars”. A large part of the reason that Turek admits to having NEVER ONCE seen anyone come to Christ as a result of his debates speaks volumes, yet he blames it on others being too invested in their positions. Think of that. In an entire career he has been completely unconvincing to anyone except to those who were already convinced. I’ve never heard a good argument for Christianity come out of Frank’s mouth. I used to be a believer for over 40 years. I used to actually believe that arguments such as the ones Frank and Craig make were solid arguments. By continuing to press further on the explanations and theories, it is obvious to me that their arguments are weak, without merit, and utterly unconvincing. THAT is why Frank doesn’t change minds. He simply lies to “the sheep”, padding his pockets along the way.

<<@DimitriPappas

I mean it should be the ultimate "goal" (in this context at least) to bring more people to belief in Christ if we believe we're propagating the truth. To suggest that isn't the implied intention seems a touch unreasonable. The key is to just spread the word with graceful conviction and not be bigoted about it. But yes, even if no-ones view changed, spreading the good message and defending reason anyway is still part of the goal achieved, and for those of us who prefer to evangelize in a non-dogmatic fashion, this is a sufficient objective in most standard debates/discussions. I guess a better way to say this is that the explicit goal is to state our case and why we believe it, while the implicit goal is that both parties come to a consensus/realization about the truth - whoever's side that may be
