<<@Nomanspie says : The pauses at the end of each section, with that 1000 yard stare, it always gets me. I must say. This channel was one of the main catalysts to me swapping from windows to Linux. I've been distro hopping and learning about different distros for months now. Swapped windows laptops and even a 2015 Macbook pro.>> <<@HeinKhant-p5p says : Bro this terminal is use the germina ai app install ?>> <<@GarryGri says : A lot of the Linux centric channels seem to like to trash-talk ChromeOS Flex. As in many ways it is exactly what Linux is not, but that can be a good thing! If you are coming from Windows and are just looking for an operating system that will Open MS Office files in actual MS Office applications and just work, then yes ChromeOS Flex could be for you. If you want a secure operating system where you don't need to fiddle with anything or install any extra anti-hacker software, Flex could be for you. If you want an easily to use and understand operating system where you don't ever need to look at a command prompt. Then again, Flex could very well be for you. And if you want a fully centrally managed and supported system with automatic updates, just like Windows, then yes Flex also provides that. In my opinion it's a much better fit for the average person coming out of MS Windows who just wants an operation system that just works. Flex just runs the Web versions of all the basic Microsoft apps you are likely to need. The down side is that it does need an internet connection for these and the Google apps. But when don't most people have an internet connection nowadays? Now the Linux people are all going red faced because it isn't 'customisable' well it is to an extent if you really want to. And personally I think that's often the best type of customisable for 'normal' windows users, it's basically just like Windows does! Remember for a Lot of Linux users their operating system is a 'hobby' unto itself, something to be played with, customised, and tinkered with. For most people a operating system is something to be installed and forgotten about. A means to do other things! But you can also load up the Linux virtual machine and install Linux software if you want to. Most people coming from Windows may possibly not want to and that's a perfectly fine use case. But if you do need specialised software or an off-line office type applications suite then the option is there. And compared to a lot of other Linux systems it can be relatively straightforward process to load and run applications. IMO it's a better real alternative for a lot of people and yes, I have used Linux for years I'm just not evangelical about it.>> <<@samuelgrochat says : Very good video. It gives me ideas indeed.>> <<@DanielTakor-e2l says : Love that wallpaper. Was it the default? 😍>> <<@ChrisinOSMS says : Thanks again, Chris! This video is how I could rescue an old ChromeBook for my child to use at university; it has web access to the Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and offline Libre Office. Saved them from having to lug around their large gaming laptop around campus. This channel is an educational gold mine. Your methodical, straight forward presentation style and dry wit remind me of my first computer science instructor, Mr. Collins taught a roomful of 5th graders hardware components, input/output devices, and how to program in BASIC on TRS80 computers.[He also taught Photography] Keep up the good work!>> <<@ErwinPrasetyo says : Solitare master...>> <<@johnmorgan8565 says : Having just obtained my first Chromebook, I am keen to start playing with Linux apps. I have used Veracrypt on Windows for many years so thought I would try it on the Chromebook. Followed your excellent guide, installing LibreOffice and Solitaire (of course), then installed Veracrypt after downloading the Deb file. Opened up Veracrypt and created a test container ok, but when trying to mount it get an error "failed to set up a loop device". I have searched online for a solution but can't find anything which makes sense to me as a Linux newbie. Do you know of a fix? Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.>> <<@nara_visuals says : try chromeos flex the new version, latest one>> <<@dustincarr3215 says : I've done this myself. Question: I've installed Audacity; unable to figure out recording system audio. Normally in Linux proper I would utilize pavucontrol to set things up. In this case I have installed both programs, pulse audio does not appear.>> <<@ChaoticBlox3 says : Out of curiosity, could I install this on an older Chromebook that isn't supported and have it run decently again? She was so fed up that she wanted to buy a new laptop. Now it just works. WiFi, Bluetooth, all the easy FN functions. No hassle no fuzz. It is easy it is safe. It does what she wants. PysolFC is a better solicetaire, very nicely finished.>> <<@wonderfulwinnder says : Chrome OS Flex has a relatively poor performance (compared with Windows), can't play movies smoothly, can't play music with surround sound, not every picture can be opened, limited file formats are supported. Many Linux apps do not run properly. The only thing it does well is to get you online via the Chrome browser. If your computer runs Windows properly, stay with Windows. Only if your computer is so low spec that it can't even run Windows, Chrome OS is then a viable option.>> <<@matteobarbieri1190 says : I have a terminal but, if I click on settings, I have a different screen and said: Linux is not supported on your Chromebook.
