<<@jordidiaz6907 says : An alternative to paid boot camps are non profit bootcamps (ex. Marcy Lab school) which is what I decided to go with. From my experience they were more transparent about expectations and they will support you throughout the entire process even after you graduate. The community aspect was amazing as well and you really get to not only grow technically but as a person as well.>> <<@Алексей127-г6э says : You'd better say should we jump on this train? Is there job for Juniors?>> <<@AnnaSzabo says : All your videos are very useful just because you’re so relatable and we think alike. Though I’m 40 years old, I’m learning from you. I did go to bootcamp and my first salary was $125,000 plus $5,000 signing bonus after I earned 6 technical certs in 108 days>> <<@MelloBlend says : Damn my man, you have come a long way since the early days I saw you. Good job and so glad you have grown no matter how much was bad. Keep it going and keep that positive tude. Nice going!!!!!>> <<@Damo_LowEnd_or_NoEnd says : That background music whose it by?>> <<@derponica4806 says : I appreciate your words of wisdom. Maybe I should start a Derponica Does channel and do the coding things to get a job.>> <<@tregalloway says : Just found you and subbed! Been in the process of learning and applying for a year, I take breaks often so I’m not the 6-10 hour a day coder but that allows me to comeback to problems with a fresh mind and not burn out. But hopefully get into tech in the next 6 months🤞🏾>> <<@jjorgii says : I think the problem I'm facing right now is that I tend to prioritize my friends, family and entertainment(youtube, video games) over my progress. Almost like I'm looking for any excuse to not do the hard work. I feel like the big thing I need to do right now is really sit down and grind out the habit of coding every day and build up to a full 8 hours of focused effort. It feels good when I complete objectives and solve bugs but it feels soo bad when I get stuck. I guess I'm just looking for opinions and feedback.>> <<@emmanuelasare2134 says : How do i get in touch with you?>> <<@davidciocoiu4900 says : Just discovered this channel, great videos! I agree with the bootcamp experience, I have a friend who just finished her 6 months bootcamp and the description you are giving matches very match hers. Other than learning, you are there for the community, and very often she found herself in a difficult position, perhaps because of a challenging problem, and I think that having peers going through the same process helps you out psychologically. As you say, there are many ways of getting into software engineering, and in many circumstances a bootcamp may be the better choice, be this because of financial availability or time. On the other hand you might not have the time to commit full time to a bootcamp, for instance I got a degree in software engineering whilst juggling part time jobs. This said, I can guarantee that a degree nowadays in our field it is no better than a bootcamp, the material was often outdated and tutors weren't always around to help. Furthermore, In my third year I secured an internship with a small company and the amount of things I learned on the job was much higher than what I had done in 3 years at uni. Would I go back and do a 4 year degree again? Probably not, but I wouldn't go to a 6 months bootcamp either as I feel that the pace is rushed and you don't have the time to retain the material. Nowadays in the UK there are degree like paths, which can last for 2 years. They may be a better alternative if you need time to work, look after family, etc... but at the same time you have the time to really retain the material as the learning is spaced out. As regards the self-learning route, unless you have a background in a STEM or hard discipline I think it would be quite difficult to piece together what to learn, and I think it may leave you with some gaps, not to mention the motivation side of things. To conclude (since this comment is getting already too long), there are other things to consider, such as what field you want to get into, for instance if you are interested into data science or AI a degree would give you the foundation for those things. Ultimately I think it comes down to time, money, personal interests and self-discipline.>> <<@Terrell-Gentry says : lol your like a new man. so happy i get to see your journey brotha>> <<@thedigitalceo says : What gets you a coding job is either your work experience or portfolio. That’s all people need to know>> <<@fredvuni6240 says : I just completed an eight months javascript fullstack bootcamp (Kanzucode bootcamp) and i don't regret it. The eight months included working on a live project and mentorship. Everything you've said about bootcamps is true so thank you Larry!>> <<@ennayyyyyyyyyy says : I love your channel. All the advice you have was realistic and genuine. I feel seen lol>> <<@RayGotJuice says : What do I need to start coding? Just a laptop, a whole pc, both?>> <<@JeremiahPeoples says : I didn’t hear a single word you said the camera quality was too good 😂>> <<@xeliqa3921 says : I'm fortunate to have been accepted on a free 4 month bootcamp here in the UK, currently am half way through. And I can 100% agree, the community is the main thing. The content is great don't get me wrong, but at the end of the day you could learn the stuff they're teaching by yourself, at your own pace. But the community you don't always get when you're learning to code by your own. You could join a Discord channel or a slack, but it's not the same. Great video and great insights.>> <<@Utube87madg says : Going through the journey, thank you for being real>> <<@denag7080 says : I normally don’t post comments, but wanted to share my appreciation for the consistency of what you share (your content). I started following you a while back because of what you shared on “black tech” and your content gave me the extra push I needed to start my own tech journey. Programming didn’t work out specifically 😂 but I just learned about data analytics and decided to transition to this area of tech. So, just wanted to say thank you and thanks for coming back 🫶🏾>> <<@hiberniankingy says : I went to CodeClan, a coding bootcamp here in Scotland and when you talk about interviews around 5.12, we had a week or so preparing us for this and also had a speed networking session because they have a great network of tech companies looking to scale their workforce. I think if a bootcamp doesn't have these things in place, things are going to be tougher BUT even having a good mentor in place (which CodeClan also set up) will help steer you on the right path.>> <<@zooldeveloper says : Thank you for being honest>> <<@ballroomdru says : Thank you for the great advice.>> <<@philliphaynes6775 says : The start of the video should have spoke to most.>> <<@zstero4612 says : sheesh haven't seen larry post on my feed for3 years.. good t see you here :)>> <<@polikesa says : Lol I feel bad for the people who think they can land a programing job after three months 🥴 that's super rare for most is atleast 1+ year>> <<@anthonyjohnsonsr.5220 says : Hey Larry glad to see your in a good place mentally brother. Keep going my dude.>> <<@christiannnaylor says : Needed to hear this man>> <<@AberNoir says : This was an informative video. Thank you Larry man🇰🇪 🇺🇸 🔥>> <<@dummycodes says : I hope this one is informative to everyone thinking about getting into tech :) Yes there are lots of languages, companies, blah blah blah to pick from. But I think these points matter just as much. ENJOY AND LIKE THE VIDEO PLEASE!>>
