I think the devs left it out on purpose to keep players on edge and I must say it works! Especially after coming from Games like GOW or Horizon where I like to search every nook and cranny and find pick up items and whatnot. Its what iv learnt to call the "redfield paradox".. wherein the player character is genuinely the actual threat. Survival horror wouldve been (for me atleast) no guns, a stealthy melee strike would stun a combatant briefly but in order to fully kill them, environmental kills or entrapment would be the answer.
