Do we react too quickly or take a breath? I've learned that I can be upset at someone I love but won't go overboard with my emotions because when I did so in the past, it hurt them and me. Didn't get anywhere and was so uncomfortable. Certain words you can never take back... Now I put distance between the person in order for us both to take the time to reflect and also not jump the gun. If you are sincere and really do care, then our words are not meant to be cutting and hurtful - we deliver them in a respectful way or we leave them and come back to discuss it at a time when are both calm. This works for mostly everyone. Practice makes perfect - that doesn't mean to be in constant conflict it means to face up to our flaws and they with theirs. We are human after all, and can never reach perfection and we really shouldn't want to - acceptance and self love, respect and trust begins with us first and then others.
