I think Nobara might be my next distro for daily drive. I could use Bazzite but thatβs immutable so the terminal is basically useless.

Hard a hard time with this installation with my Gigabyte X670 and Realtek network card not happy getting my WiFi set up. Chatgpt used but had that flummoxed for oer 10 hours of trying to come up with solutions. Eventually Grok to the rescue in 2 more hours to get it fixed (after a few failed solutions). Grok proved itself over chatgpt.half the time with chatgpt was waiting for it to think of something to say in response to my failed code output responses. Grok is king! Next up and airtight VM installation of Windows to run a perpetual Capture One licence via a Nvidia graphics card, installed on its own ssd. Linux happy with integrated graphics card and running on its own ssd. Soon to add self rebooting, my own cloud server and finally my own AI assistant. Linux makes me smile! :-)

Thank you for the video. I installed Nobara 42 recently and honestly did not enjoy it much. Slow original installation- my install had 2 errors and then got stuck for ages at 93%. After that, I tried using the software managers to install apps and updates but everything I touched felt very slow and sluggish. Lots of errors and crashes doing basics stuff like changing the wallpaper/ theme or trying to suspend the system. I got tired and changed to a different distro. My PC is a bit old , itβs true but , my system was much faster running other distros

this is not about choosing an operating system, this is about preserving our mental health from ads spam. i never used linux before so i will keep windows installed but i will try with years to use windows the less possible, like an old video game console you like to play from time to time. i think the huge benefi is the community of open sources / free software, which not only are expensive on windows, but only only working through subscription methods, which is kinda annoying when you pay each month for a tool you open twice in a year.

After install delete etc/host and hosts.conf and network.conf and delete it tables. Install packages hipify rocm and dxvk and in your home folder show hidden files and go to .local and other filers like .cache and check its correctly configured in there and in networking settings you can show the loopback io and the .local shared steam games folder. Set steam to beta mode and be sure not to enable system scaling for 400% scale or native scale or steam may blurry stuck at 720p

Bro why does mine literally look nothing like this. All I get is the "first steps" box. There's nothing on the desktop whatsoever, no task bar at the bottom, there's just nothing. And I do not understand the flatpak thing at all. I go to add Firefox, get a confusing list that makes no sense, and then it says that I'm REMOVING software. I'm lost. Fml

I just downloaded the latest Nobara 41 that I'll be installing on a new gaming pc I'm building, as I've decided to ditch windows completely and move to Linux. I did a short test drive with just booting from a usb flash drive for a live run without installing anything on my current windows pc. Wow, I'm amazed how quickly it auto recognized all my pc hardware and peripherals and loaded all the needed drivers so everything worked out of the box. It didn't even need to download any drivers, or for me to have to fiddle about with a terminal as everything was already in the package installer. This is my first go with Linux and I must say I'm quite excited to get to learn and explore a new OS.

Thank you, Mr. Barnatt! ππΌ I've been enjoying Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition on my pre-built Dell desktop, but *Nobara* has recently captured my attention. I believe it would be ideal for gaming (in particular -- I'm an avid Steam user) and dabbling with content creation tools (which is something I've always wanted to try, but have yet to put my hands on), on a separate PC (featuring an NVIDIA graphics card) that I'll soon be putting together. This video was the deciding vote! I'm doing it! ππΌ Thanks again! π

Unpacking my new laptop tomorrow. Installing Nobara Linux over the preinstalled freedos is the first thing I am going to do. I am looking forward to finding out how well Nobara handles both gaming and programming/development tasks, as those are my main use-cases. Edit: It has been a couple of days and so far everything is installing and running smoothly both on the gaming and on the development side. Thus far I can definitely recommend nobara Linux!

Only issue with Nobara after about a year is the fellas rush to be on the cutting edge means updates that fail on install is common. In this past year I've had to reinstall 4 or 5 times over failed or looping updates. Otherwise no real issues.

Can you do a video on the install process for Nobara 39? It seems that some things have changed, as on reboot after install, there is something not working with the grub. I used the erase the entire disk option, letting the install set up what it thought would be best. If you are finding the same issue, could you show how to do a manual partitioning?

I am seriously considering throwing away Widows and move to Linux, but I was unsure (still am) about Linux limitations regarding drivers for various divices or apps such as DXO Photolab, Topaz, Affinity Photo and Davinci Resolv, and some other important apps. It is of course not Linux's fault that these companies don't develop drivers or adapt their software to Linux, but still. But it is a great relief to see that with this version of Linux one can install Davinci R. easily and the app runs stably...Thank you!

This may be a "DUG" for some, and may not apply to everyone. but my latest experience with Nobara was a nightmare and I deleted it. Found out that the computer with Linux on it was spazzing out with the "Legacy USB" feature enabled in BIOS. Not casting any negativity on Nobara at all. Just wanted to throw this out there if anyone is having input issues and seems like things are locking up on you and not responding, if could just be the USB freaking out.

I've decided today that I'm done with Windows after my PC froze and crashed in the middle of what I was playing because it wanted to run and update. I'm so tired of not having any agency over my PC.
