You only have 1 pistol (short) carriage and 1 rifle (long) carriage. The "quick swap" is used to swap between the carriages. Swapping between 2 pistols or 2 rifles using the same carriage is NOT quick. The Skunk gun essentially gives you an option for a shotgun if you're running a rifle carriage weapon that is not the Riot shotgun.
