I have a few suggestions for anyone's next encounter. First of all, never tell them you're ex-JWS; at that moment, they will never believe anything you say after that. What they do believe is everything that's in their bible. Now, the most important subject we should talk about is salvation, not failed prophecies or the Trinity, etc. It would be best if you memorize these verses instead of writing them down. I will be using their translation, so you can see exactly what they are reading. CAPS are for emphasis only. The brackets are mine. Start with Acts 11:14 where it says: and he will TELL you things by which you and all your household may get SAVED.’ Ask them, do you agree that there's a SALVATION message? They should say yes. Ask them do they know exactly what that message is, according to the context in which it is written? They will probably throw out the good news of the Kingdom, because that's ALL they know. At this time, get them to read what Peter was saying in Acts 10:37-43, where it says: You know the SUBJECT that was talked about throughout all Ju·deʹa, starting from Galʹi·leeq after the baptism that John preached:r 38 about Jesus who was from Nazʹa·reth, how God anointed him with holy spirits and power, and he went through the land doing good and healing all those oppressed by the Devil because God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all the things he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; but they did away with him by hanging him on a stake. 40 God raised this one up on the third day and allowed him to become manifest,* 41 not to all the people, but to witnesses appointed beforehand by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after his rising from the dead. 42 Also, he ORDERED US TO PREACH to the people and to give a thorough witness that this is the one decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone putting FAITH in him RECEIVES forgiveness of SINS through his name.” Question: What did God order us to preach? Get them to read verse 39-43 again. Can you show me that same message from any publication on your cart? Question: Would you agree that it's GOOD news that we can get forgiveness of sins by putting faith in what Jesus did on the Cross? [Don't let them divert to the torture stake argument at this point, just say whatever it was and keep moving] Now, get them to read 1 Cor. 15:1-4 where it says: Now I remind you, brothers, of THE [ definite article, meaning only one] good news that I declared to you, which you also accepted, and for which you have taken your stand. 2 Through it you are also being SAVED if you hold firmly to THE good news I declared to you, unless you became believers for nothing. 3 For among the first things I handed on to you was what I also received, that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS according to the Scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, yes, that he was raised up on the third day according to the Scriptures; Questions: 1) Would you agree that Jesus dying FOR our sins Good News 2)Isn't that the SAME SALVATION message that Peter told Cornelius? 3)So, according to your bible, one can be saved by BELIEVING that message? [Don't let them divert to the demons believe too.] Just get them to answer the question. Next, get them to read Acts 5:42[ keyword: ABOUT], where it says: And every day in the temple and from house to house, they continued without letup, teaching and declaring [What?] the good news ABOUT the Christ, Jesus Question: According to your bible, WHAT should be your door-to-door message? Next, have them read Acts 26:15-18, where Paul explains his encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ on the Damascus Road to King Agrippa. 15 But I said: ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said: ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 16 But rise and stand on your feet. This is why I have appeared to you, to choose you as a servant and a witness both of things you have seen and things I will make you see respecting me. 17 And I will rescue you from this people and from the nations, to whom I am sending you 18 to open their eyes to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by their FAITH IN me.’ Now, ask them what happens to a person who puts their faith in Jesus? Starting in verse 18, their eyes will be open, and they will turn FROM darkness TO light, and they will leave the authority OF Satan TO God, and receive the FORGIVENESS of sins, and an inheritance. If they say that you'll never know for sure that you have eternal life now. Get them to read John 3:18: Whoever exercises faith in him is not to be judged. Whoever does not exercise faith HAS BEEN judged ALREADY, because he has not exercised faith in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. Question at this time. If one is condemned ALREADY by not believing, wouldn't that mean that one is saved ALREADY by believing? Now you can ask: Did you know that you guys should be out here BEGGING people to become reconciled? Get them to read 2 Cor. 5:18-21, where it says: But all things are FROM God, who reconciled [PAST tense, point that out] us to himself through Christ and gave us the MINISTRY OF the reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was by means of Christ reconciling a world to himself NOT counting their offenses against them and he entrusted to us the MESSAGE the reconciliation. 20 Therefore, WE ARE ambassadors substituting for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us. As substitutes for Christ, WE BEG: “Become reconciled to God.” 21 The one who did not know sin, he made to be SIN FOR US, so that by means of him we might become God’s righteousness. Question: How can one have a message of reconciliation if they don't KNOW if they have been reconciled? Question: Can you show me from your cart here ANYTHING ABOUT putting faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins that God ORDERED us to PREACH? Question: How about ANYTHING about BEGGING one to become reconciled, you know, the MINISTRY that God gave us to PREACH? If they haven't left already, get them to read Gal.1:7-9 where it says: 7 NOT that there is ANOTHER good news;[ Good time to point out there's only ONE] but there are certain ones who are causing you trouble and wanting to distort the good news about the Christ. 8 However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something BEYOND the good news we declared to you, let him be ACCURSED. 9 As we have said before, I now say again, Whoever is declaring to you as good news something beyond what you accepted, let him be accursed. Let them know that everything you said fits together, and if they cannot show you from their cart the Good News message, they are preaching ANOTHER Good News message, that comes with a curse. Please try to memorize all the above, and let's win some lost souls. God bless.

NWT is so deceptive. But it's 100x easier to deceive than to convince that someone else _already_ deceived them. As 1 example (seemingly innocent) but very deceptive. Read Romans 14:8-9 in ANY normal Bible. It's 100% 💯 clear both verses are about the SON OF GOD. Then ask the JWs. They will tell you verse 8 is the Father and verse 9 is the Son. 🤦♂️ That's how they get you, by doing the exact thing all over their Bible.

My wife is one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I am curious and read several translations. One who believes the trinity, if honest, must concede, nowhere in scripture does Christ claim to be God.Each scripture cited is an often tenuous allusion to another scripture. Much is made of John 1:1 however the Greek here has no indefinite article "a" . So reads "the word was with The God( ho theos) and the word was god (theos) There is clearly a distinction between the two renderings of the Greek word for God (god) the immediate context, particularly v 18 " no man has seen God at any time"by this time the disciples had lived with Jesus throughout his ministry so had clearly seen him, coupled with an honest reading of Christ's relationship with his Father should determine whether the indefinite article is used. Does God have a God? Ridiculous right? John 20:17 Jesus says" I am acsending to my father and your father to MY GOD and your God. Col 3:12 Paul tells us "clothe yourselves with humility" Melissa, you sign of with "..for myself AND other GREAT apologists" counting yourself among the great. In the beginning, there was the Word, The Word was with The God [Greek: ton theon], And [a] god [Greek: theos] was the Word. In our translation, this reads: In the beginning there was the Word, The Word was with The God, And [a] god was the Word. The NIV – and most Bibles – put it quite differently: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Greek does not have the word ‘a’ (or ‘an’), but it’s found throughout Bible translations because translators insert it where it makes sense in English. Where it’s added, or not added, is entirely at the discretion of the translator (and the translator’s sponsors). Why do we add ‘[a]’ here to say ‘[a] god?’ 1. Wrong century History tells us that the belief in the Father and Son being co-equal members of a ‘Godhead’ only arose gradually over centuries amid much public dispute (which sometimes turned violent). It was not an orthodox teaching until well after the Bible was completed. This is widely known, acknowledged, and backed up by voluminous amounts of historical data. If John were saying that Jesus is a god, then this would be in full agreement with the documented history of early Christian belief. For example, Justin Martyr was one of the earliest Christian writers. In his Dialogue with Trypho, he stated this: I shall attempt to persuade you… that there is… another god and lord subject to the maker of all things who is also called an angel… He who is said to have appeared to Abraham, and to Jacob, and to Moses, and who is called ‘God’, is distinct from Him who made all things… it must be admitted absolutely that some other one is called lord by the Holy Spirit besides Him who is considered Maker of all things… He is the lord who received commission from the Lord who [remains] in the Heavens, i.e; the Maker of all things. Since the early Christians believed that Jesus was “another God,” it helps us understand how they read John 1:1. This is supported by the Greek text, as explained below. 2. The two ‘God’ references in John 1:1 are different The two uses of the term ‘God’ in John 1:1 are different in Greek. The first term is ton theon (“The God”), while the second simply says theos (“God” or “divine”). This is very important because ton theon (“The God”) is a phrase used throughout the Greek Christian Bible to refer to Almighty God. If the author had truly wanted to say that the Word was somehow both simultaneously with Almighty God and was Almighty God, then the author could have said “The God” twice, but he did not. The author instead chose two different terms. If we translate these two terms identically in English, we would be deceiving our readers into thinking that the Greek text also has two identical terms – when it does not. Instead, we show readers that the first ‘God’ is actually the common term for Almighty God (“The God”), but it is not so with the second ‘god.’ The two different Greek terms indicate that the writer considered the second ‘god’ to be different from “The God,” in other words, another, lesser god exactly as early Christians like Justin Martyr described. 3. “a god” not offensive In Western culture, we only think of one God, but in the ancient world, it was ordinary to talk of many different gods. Referring to any powerful being as a ‘god’ was not shocking, offensive, or alien. It does not undermine the idea of one all-powerful, Almighty God over everyone and everything. This is why Paul could talk about there being ‘many gods’ in 1 Corinthians 8:5. Also, in Acts 28:6, when the Maltese people thought that Paul was ‘god,’ they likely thought that he was ‘a god’ rather than Almighty God – perhaps one of the gods from the various pagan pantheons. After all, in Acts 14, after Paul performed a miracle, the people of Lystra said, “The gods have turned themselves into men and come down to us!” They then called Paul “Hermes” (the god of orators, among other things), and his companion BarNabas was labeled “Zeus” (the god of thunder, son of Cronus, grandson of Uranus). Even the Jewish holy writings would refer to the “sons of the Most High” as being “gods.” Psalm 82 says: God stands in the gathering of gods [...] I said to them: ‘You are gods… You are sons of the Most High!’ Jesus himself then quoted those words in John 10:34. So, calling Jesus “a god” would not be shocking in the first century, but it is entirely in line with how they thought back then. 4. “The Word” is likely referring to the Jewish concept of the “Memra” Has it ever struck you as odd that John would start to call Jesus “the Word”? Well, that’s because the idea did not originate with John. Ancient readers would already be familiar with it, as “the Word” was a known concept at the time. In Aramaic, it was known as the “Memra”. What’s that? When referring to God speaking something into existence in Genesis or speaking to humans at other times, it was common to say these things were done by God’s “Word” rather than by God Himself. Yes, it was common to personify God’s Word and treat it like a separate person doing things on God’s behalf. This idea was often combined with the personification of Wisdom in texts like Proverbs and Sirach. The “Word” was treated like a second entity that spoke for Almighty God, performed works for Him, and embodied God’s Wisdom. Why did the ancient Jews do this? Were they just trying to avoid referring to God too directly (out of respect), or did they believe that the Word was a separate powerful spirit creature? Experts are divided on the matter. Regardless of exactly what the Jews believed, John tells us exactly what he believes. In John 1:2, he states that the “Word” is indeed a separate person who even created the world: “This one was with The God in the beginning, everything, by his hand, was made.” Conclusion So for the above reasons, it seems highly likely to us that when first-century readers saw theos in John 1:1, they saw that he was not Almighty God (ton theon) but was “a” god – the “Memra” or “Word” who spoke for Almighty God and performed creative acts on His behalf. This view is entirely consistent with history, early Christian texts (before they developed the Trinity doctrine), and the rest of the Gospel of John: And, although nobody’s ever seen God, this ‘only generated god’ (the one in the favored position of the Father) has explained Him. —1 John 1:18 Interestingly, the most ancient translation of John in the Coptic language uses grammar to indicate ‘a god.’ What if John was originally written in Aramaic? In this translation, we entertain the theory that most (but not all) of the New Testament may have been originally written, or at least narrated, in Aramaic before being translated into Greek. How does this affect our understanding of John 1:1? Well, unlike Koine Greek, the Aramaic language did not traditionally use the phrase “The God” to indicate the Father, nor does it have the word “a” in its language. Therefore, you are not going to see “The God” or “a god” in this verse in Aramaic. Native speakers, like Arabic speakers today, use the context to assume the idea of “a” in their minds. However, if the Gospel of John was originally written or narrated in Aramaic, then whoever translated it into Greek made the distinction between “The God” (ton theon) and “god” (theos). He or she believed there was a difference between the two and chose to convey it in writing. The Aramaic version does teach us one useful thing about John 1:1: the second reference to “god” is probably not an adjective meaning “divine” because Aramaic has a different word for that term. So although the Greek theos can mean either “god” (noun) or “divine” (adjective), the writer was probably not trying to say that “the Word was divine.”

Do Jehovah’s Witnesses know that John 1:1 in the NWT was not correctly translated and that it is not the correct Greek Translation? No. Jehovah's witnesses do not know that. In fact nobody anywhere knows that, because your statement is incorrect. The NWT is in fact quite correct in the way it translates John 1:1. Here is what Professor Jason David BeDuhn says on John 1:1- Jason David BeDuhn, Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament (Maryland: University Press of America, Inc.; 2003), p. 132. ʻGrammatically, John 1: 1 is not a difficult verse to translate. It follows familiar, ordinary structures of Greek expression. A lexical (“interlinear”) translation of the controversial clause would read: “And a god was the Word.” A minimal literal (“formal equivalence”) translation would rearrange the word order to match proper English expression: “And the word was a god.” The preponderance of evidence, [1] from Greek Grammar, [2] from literary context, and [3] from cultural environment, supports this translation, of which “the Word was divine” would be a slightly more polished variant carrying the same basic meaning. Both of these renderings are superior to the traditional translation which goes against these three key factors that guide accurate translation.ʼ According to Wikipedia there are a number of other translations that render John 1:1 in a similar way to the NWT. Wikipedia: Other variations of rendering, both in translation or paraphrase, John 1:1c also exist: 14th century: "and God was the word" – Wycliffe's Bible (translated from the 4th-century Latin Vulgate) 1808: "and the Word was a god" – Thomas Belsham The New Testament, in an Improved Version, Upon the Basis of Archbishop Newcome's New Translation: With a Corrected Text, London. 1822: "and the Word was a god" – The New Testament in Greek and English (A. Thank you for sharing the tips. Conviction was running high here. I literally just had a conversation with some JWs, and admittedly I didnt do well on keeping my cool. I didnt yell, but I did get aggressive in tone. The Holy Spirit convicted me of it and brought me down before the end of the conversation. However, I didnt let them sit with their own conclusion. They asked me what I believed and I shared the Gospel from Genesis to Revelation. One guy stated I dont believe the earth will be destroyed. I asked him if the NWT still included Revelation 21-22. When he said yes, I asked if he would mind reading it. When he read the first verse, it contradicted their belief. He, being an elder, went on to say he doesn't believe that is what it means and said I couldn't convert Him. I reminded him that there was no desire to "convert" him, as the Lord is not desiring anyone jump from one religion to any religion. His desire is that we come to a true saving faith in Christ Jesus as Lord God by faith in repentance and obedience. He shook my hand and they sent me on my way. To the reason I got aggressive was in the first man saying they could not answer any question and wanted me to take a card to visit their website instead. That lead to a second guy walking up and asking me to leave. When I said that the guy said couldn't share what they believe, the second guy looked at the first and said thats not true, and he then asked me what is God's purpose. When I asked him to explain what he meant, he clarified to say, what is His plan, I told him that His purpose and His plan receive different answers that compliment each others. He agreed and asked what is the Lord's plan. I explained the Gospel, which requires identifying who is Jesus, God the Son, he got upset and said I wasn't answering the question and needed to leave. When I tried to point out that the Gospel explains His plan, he cut me off and I got in my flesh and went back and forth with him. Failure on my part. I should thanked him for his time, took back my blessing and shook the dust off my feet. I guess its always a tip to truly discern foolish question that lead to quarreling and debating and avoid them. Thanks Melissa. I got my spiritual whooping for the day. Thank you God for me welcoming that person to hear from you through me and my testimony 🙏🏽 💛 God readied me for this season to have answers, respond in grace and humility to show Compassion. I told her I know I'm not lost but so glad we are giving God glory to speak on His Kingdom👑🙌🏾🕊

Is it too far fetched that before being sent to earth, Jesus’ name might have been Michael? Jesus, who is the most important human to have ever walked the earth, is never mentioned by name in the ‘Old Testament’. Isaiah 9:6 says of his name: “….and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (King James) He was assigned the name Jesus when he was born. Luke 1:31, Matthew 1:21, And Immanuel at Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23 Did you know, in Rev 3:12, after referring to His God 4 times, (Yes, Jesus has a God) Jesus receives a new name? Rev 3:12 “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.” King James

How do you respond when they don’t come to your house, but send a letter?

God placed a JW lady in my path just a few days ago in a doctor’s office waiting room. When we first started conversing, I was completely unaware of her beliefs. We talked about health matters, & as we talked on, she pulled out her phone & was showing me some verses from Isaiah about God’s protection from diseases. I showed interest & expressed curiosity about the context of the verses, commenting that context is always so important when interpreting scripture. She then showed me Isaiah 55:11 about God’s Word not returning to Him void. I expressed my love for that verse & told her I had just shared that with my church Life Group via email a few weeks ago as a weekly scripture focus. It opened the door for me to then share Philippians 1:6 with her as another verse I’d recently shared with my group—-“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” I shared how I’d learned that it was a promise that from the time of our salvation until the time that we receive our glorified bodies at Christ’s return that He would be working His purpose in us until completion. She then looked a little puzzled, but I could tell she was thinking about what I’d said. Her name was called by the nurse, & she then proceeded to give me a business card with the JW website, encouraging me to check it out. I told her that I really enjoyed chatting with her & she said likewise. In hindsight, I realized how that she probably thought she was witnessing to me that entire time, but my prayer is that God used that interaction to plant seeds to where she would question more. It shows that no matter who might be placed in our path, God can use us as His vessels to communicate the Truth when we interact & answer in a humble & respectful way regarding the Hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15).❤✝️

Last week two young Jehovas were at my apartment door. One knocked, I ignored. He knocked again, I ignored. He knocked a third time then I shouted angerly to leave. At what point is it considered harassment? Next time they come I thought about getting their information then reporting to the them to the police for harassment.
