Even more now as Razer Synapse for Mac Preview is here and that completely changes the game for me. As someone who’s ridden the MX Master 3 → 3S → heartbreak arc, I tried the Keychron M6 and the cheap built and other drawbacks made me return the damn thing. A few of them were the missing SmartScroll, finicky free scroll wheel which makes it unusable for me in that mode, it's like trying to stop a roulette wheel with a feather and un-configurable cheap middle button that clicks with a ton of travel, feels mushy and sounds awful. Until Logitech wakes up and drops the MX Master 4 (leaked a month ago) with a decent polling rate and some actual macOS love (hello, janky PDF/Powerpoint page scrolling), the Basilisk V3 Pro is the closest thing to a real successor, and shocker, it works beautifully on macOS now too. No other mouse checks all those boxes, unless Logitech decides to scroll into 2025 with both eyes open. I have been looking for a replacement mouse for my two main workstations. one is a windows, the other is a new M4 Mac mini. What I have been using for YEARS is the Logi M705 marathon. A very good mouse with all the buttons needed. It is is pretty much worn out and time to replace it. I watched your video a week ago. Today I finally made it into the store to see what they had and how those felt. Boy oh boy, the basilisk sure is a nice mouse and the ergonomics are excellent. Fits nicely in the hand. But.... your review showed me that it falls flat for the Mac, for now, because of software. So I walked out of the store with the M720. Also a very nice mouse. Has all the features of my old mouse, plus it adds in bluetooth. So they took a very good M705 and made it slightly better with the M720. The good news, pretty much all buttons and features on the M705 and M720 worked on my Mac natively, meaning did not have to do any software stuff. The tilt scroll is excellent and effortless to side scroll pages and worksheets. imho, much better than a wheel like the MX3. I would have loved the basilisk if not for the lack for Mac. Blender 3D for example uses scroll wheel / middle button extensively for navigating.
