The “plasma cutter” and the “ripper” were the one, two combo weapons that gave you the most bang for the buck. The plasma cutter once upgraded chopped the enemies to pieces quickly, then for defense the ripper could sweep enemies that got close to you. If you max those two weapons out you could clobber most of the enemies including the upgraded enemies pretty quickly. Everyone plays their style of course but for the max damage and best defense those two weapons will give you the best chance of kicking ass and staying alive.
