Both of these two guys are using value judgements instead of true empirical science. This attribute is "Good", this attribute is "Bad". And worse yet, there's an underlying assumption that they (or "good people") lack these bad attributes. All people are capable of both good and bad things. If pushed, very good people can be VERY VERY bad. About the only really valid point they brought up was how bad people are impulsive. THIS is important. Impulse control is what really separates most "Good" from "Bad" people. The desire to get revenge on others, or just to torment the innocent, is felt by all people. This is tempered by their knowledge of right and wrong, past mental trauma, the environment they developed in, and... yes... empathy... but that's just a single aspect. Even the fictitious character from American Psycho, often states as the ultimate example of a psychopath, could be seen a victim to intense social pressure leading to a disassociation with his own mind. There's THINGS that happen before empath fails. It's rarely that somebody lacks it entirely. A juvenile fear which sees using dominance or violence as a means of obtaining security. Most of us get socialised out of this age at a fairly early age but those who don't will probably learn to (secretly) enjoy it because it reinforces and self-justifies the action and establishes hatred and contempt for the object of the sadism whether it is a threatening wasp, worm, cat, prisoner, opponent, etc. Video games, even sports, are a mechanism for expressing these deep primitive functions in a harmless fantasy world of fiction.
