So with that being said, he’s not a very good person to take financial advice from.>> <<@DovGordon says : @Jordan B Peterson - please interview Michael Saylor about money. The two of you would be fascinating.>> <<@DovGordon says : This was very worthwhile. You talked about "crypto" for just a few minutes from about 1h37m. Roy's objection seems to be that it doesn't have some other use; the same "no intrinsic utility" argument that I won't bother to rehash now. Except that Roy adds an almost spiritual argument: Money should be something that makes sure every member of the economy is "accountable to the real wealth that has to be produced." I love that. The unfortunate thing is that Roy fails to realize that Bitcoin (not "crypto" - ONLY Bitcoin) does that even better than gold. Throughout history, gold has served as money and store of value. But because gold has weaknesses that led to it being held in centralized locations with paper issued against it PLUS the ability for governments to mint their own coins and to debase them by mixing metals... These weaknesses of gold have led us to the modern fiat economy that has zero basis in physical reality. Bitcoin goes further than gold because ilby dint of it being tied tightly to the physical world due to the real cost of Bitcoin mining, it ensures everyone is "accountable to how real wealth is produced." However, it lacks all the weaknesses of gold that eventually pave the road to fiat - Bitcoin overcome them. Thank you both. Roy Sebag is an honest thinker, humble and insightful.>> <<@llyradcynth691 says : The way our economy functions now is an imbalance between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. People are just simply crazy!!! An extremely vicious circle. Intrinsic other than family love and food in stomach?>> <<@lography6917 says : Only 15 minutes in, and I'm likely on the mount of Dunning-Kruger, but it seems like he's rationalized why he isn't just a statistical outlier without really explaining it, other than assuming he's just smarter. Your amount of money you start with heavily influences how much risk you can take, repeatedly value investing until it simply works, and then happens to keep working, once again, very difficult to distinguish if that was because of his IQ or it's basic math. Logic says it's the latter, which unfortunately makes his thinking fallacious but he's likely not able to see the water he's swimming in (if that is the case). Here is perhaps stronger evidence, everyone in the comments saying he's right, which everyone here is saying he is, which logically makes me conclude he might not be once again (though the same could be said about mainstream acceptance of market efficiency). Around and around the theories go>> <<@JohannesAvDamaskus777 says : More like this! Bravo bravo !>> <<@william2501 says : OMF goodness, that was a bloody good podcast. It is not about achieving quick wealth, but rather ensuring long-term financial prosperity>> <<@pathway.2.prosperity says : for me money is more of a defense and a tool than an end result.>>
