Confession is certainly taught in the Bible to be necessary (1 John 1:9). Confession is indeed necessary but the psychological impact of confession as a means of security (now and eternity) is woeful. Many great things have come from it, but slowly it is degrading the diversity of, well, everything. We take a few and then market them, but when you pop that into a recipe it is likely having many other effects we don't understand. We'd rather design the soup with the thing we created from reductionism. slowly this mindset is leading to many poor consequences: monoculture in many "biomes", environmental, our own microbiome in our instestines, and our own cultural ideas... of which the western wokeness is spreading as a virus to other cultures, just as covid did (also invasive and human created). This is the more pressing threat IMHO. I see not much talk of this real threat.
