Put your kid in sports, moderate their gaming, and move on. If you don't let your kid get screen time, they say they will be behind technologically, if you do then they're brain is little 😂 The smartest people in the world be on the computer all day 😮

This is your opinion. Being outside in the sunshine is very important I agree with you on that point. What is not address is it some of us are not able to get outside and be in the sunshine.

I wonder if that’s only applicable to developing brains, as a function of the reduction of actual brain size via the halt of the neural network’s growth in all domains. Or does the activity reduce a fully grown adult brain size? And if not, does it affect the brains capacity instead of size? Either way, it’s obvious that we should put a limit onto screen use at least as strict as one placed on video gaming. As parents, we should treat phone or tablet use like we treat eating candy—we don’t really care how badly our child wants to eat another piece if they’ve already had their full. Similarly, we don’t allow children to eat candy every day of the week, late into the night. Developing human usage of these devices should be no different. WE TRULY MUST FIND A SOLUTION TO OUR SMARTPHONE DEPENDENCE. AND THEN USE THAT SOLUTION CONSPICUOUSLY SO THAT OUR CHILDREN/NEXT GENERATION FOLLOW SUIT, BECAUSE LORD KNOWS THEY NEED TO

We are all, without exception, landlocked to this unsustainable paradigm without the creativity, imagination, and will to break free. It doesn't matter whether or not one is living on a mountaintop enjoying a ray of sunshine or lying in an alleyway, completely drenched in rain, the greater narratives driving modern civilization are ultimately destructive to us all. Sadly, it is artificial, rather than authentic intelligence that rules the day.

Ehm... Source? What is this study that he's referring to. Screen time can be highly cognitively challenging. One could be studying, playing chess, solving math problems. How is screen time defined in this study? His claim seems imprecise, and no reference to the study is made.

Huge assumption that smaller brain is a bad thing. - Human brain shrunk 10% in the last 30,000 years. So we are dumber than we were then? - Smaller brain can mean greater organ/neuro efficiency. Brain found a way to function better with less and shrinks. - Studies show low correlation btwn brain size and intelligence among humans. Go read those studies before deciding what you want to believe.

Yeah.. I'd like to actually see this study and how they got to the conclusion. Also.. at what point would it start affecting? Any screen time? A lot? How much? Seems fishy

That's interesting. I'm a computer programmer. I spend most of my time in front of the screen developing software for the medical industry using advanced AI systems for software development. I've also made it a habit of taking an effective nootropics stack, eating cleanly, and exercising regularly, which does help to increase brain size. I may watch too much YouTube. I should find something more productive to do with my time.

"Not getting exercise" - let's say kid 1 sits at home, reads, studies, and plays the piano all day long, and kid 2 plays video games all day long except one hour playing soccer outside with other kids, according to this blood flow factor kid 2 should be doing better brain-wise than kid 1... How does that make sense?
