They weren't allowed to do anything about that canyon of water swallowing them up. Also the on/off leprosy hand, being "within the fold" and being healed, Jesus telling people to stretch out their hand(s) and be healed. God established what brought healing, being within the fold, and killed them that weren't. Swallowing up rahab is another metaphor that happened right in front of pharoah, he didn't get that either, neither did his sorcerers, and they got a lot of people killed for their failure.>> <<@gi169 says : Thank you CE.>> <<@ajgibson1307 says : Amen and God bless>> <<@checkmate5338 says : Interesting... although Islam is still true.>> <<@Doosje1977 says : Thank you and God bless! The idea that no one will die for a lie, is completely false, we see this in rare occurrences every year. There is NO Evidence of the resurrection(s), at all. Even the nt only mentions one. The rest dying are all legend. There is no historical evidence for any of it. For to me, to live is Christ, to die is gain. Phil 1:21 šŸ•Š>> <<@gorillaz_jbi says : The rapid expansion of Christianity is also evidence for the validity of New Testament. But what about other world religions that rapidly expanded too like Islam? The reason why the explosive growth of the church out of Jerusalem was the unique empirical event that Christianity needed to be based on, was the bodily resurrection of Jesus. That could have been refuted easily by the Romans or the Jews and yet they didn’t do it. They had the power to do it quite obviously. So I just find it hard to believe that this could have come out of Jerusalem when the Romans and Jews could have squashed it easily. Now with regard to Islam, Islam spread by use of the sword. But then you’ll hear some people say, ā€œbUt wHaT aBoUt tHe cRuSaDeS?ā€ The Crusades didn’t start until 1095AD and they were a response to Muslim aggression in the Holy Land. Christianity had been established for over a thousand years prior to the Crusades. In fact, Christianity grew when it was being persecuted. Whereas Islam grew when they were the persecutors. In fact, in the first 100 years of Islam, the followers of Muhammad tracked all the way across Northern Africa and across the Straits of Gibraltar through Spain, and were stopped in 732AD exactly 100 years after Muhammad died by Charles Martel, who was the ruler of that area of France. Martel, which means hammer, he stopped them there and repelled them and eventually the Muslims retreated back over the Straits of Gibraltar, back into Northern Africa, but all of Northern Africa remains Muslim to this day. It’s spread by use of the sword. Whereas Christianity did not. This is just one piece of evidence. Not the spreading itself, but the ā€œmeansā€ of the spreading. I wouldn’t base my whole case on just one piece of evidence. There are other lines of evidences that seem to show that this really happened. Mainly because it could have been refuted. On the other hand, how do you refute Islam? It’s not based on a historical claim. In fact, Muhammad (Islam) and Joseph Smith (mormonism), have a lot in common. They had ā€œprivate revelationā€ that absolutely nobody can verify. In fact Muhammad had his first ā€œrevelationā€ in about 610AD, he thought he was being possessed by demons. He was having convulsions. It was only his wife Khadijah who talked him out of it and said, ā€œNo you’re getting Revelation from the same God as Moses.ā€ There is in fact another realm out there. But not every revelation comes from the good side. So many people will try and say something ridiculous like Gods behavior is no different than the behavior as ISIS. A common moral objection in this area or topic is when you read about ISIS slaughtering Christians, children, and women in the Middle East, but it sounds a lot like what God told Joshua to do in the Promised Land. How can Christians be outraged by ISIS and yet worship the God who sent Joshua to do his own version of ethnic cleansing? First off, this is a very agonizing question that any believer in biblical authority faces. However, there is a world of difference between the judgment upon Canaan that God commanded (which He clearly explains why), and the Islamic idea of Jihad. Jihad is a religious war. It is the use of violence to convert people to the religion of Islam. If the people that you are having Jihad against ā€œrepentā€ and become Muslims, then you are not to kill them anymore, because now they are Muslims. It is a use of violence in the propagation of the Islamic faith. It is a tool of evangelism, in effect. That is COMPLETELY different than the invasion of Canaan in the Old Testament. That was an example of God’s JUDGMENT(not man’s judgment), upon these corrupt Canaanite tribes that were inhabiting the land of Canaan at that time. If you remember, God allowed Israel to languish for 400 years in Egypt and in slavery, before he brought them out. Because He said, ā€œThe inequity of the Amorite’s is not yet completeā€. God waited until these Canaanite tribes were SO EVIL, SO REPROBATE, that they were ripe for judgment. Then He delivered the land over to Israel and He used the armies of Israel as a ā€œtool of judgmentā€ or as a means of bringing judgment on them. But it definitely wasn’t a religious war, obviously. It wasn’t an attempt to convert these people to Judaism, or it wasn’t a means of spreading Judaism. So it’s a world of difference. God was judging the nations of Canaan in the same way He would later judge Israel, when He allowed the armies of Babylon to come in and destroy Israel and take its people into exile. So there’s a world of difference between what ISIS and what other Jihadists are doing and the sort of judgment that God brought upon Canaan and later brought upon Israel itself.>>
