Yes, the birthrate in Hungary has risen from around 1.2 births per woman to about 1.8 births per woman. BUT: 1) that's still under the 2.1 reproduction rate so Hungary didn't manage to stop its population decline. 2) Since the number of women of birthing age within the Hungarian population is already pretty low, raising the birthrate is not much use, the Hungarian population is still declining rapidly. We are around 9.5 million currently and by the middle of the century, we will be below 8 million. 3) The oppressive and corrupt politics of Viktor Orbán's far-right government have driven about 800.000 predominantly active, young (and fertile!) people out of the country of about 10 million (well, now much less than 10 million) who have gone to the West to seek a better and freer existence (YES, they went to these "crumbling" Western democracies such as the Netherlands which you guys think are turning into horrible totalitarian dystopias - you Westerners know nothing about oppression and destitution) 4) Since these 6-800.000 active, working, productive individuals are sorely missing from the Hungarian economy, Orbán (yes, the migrant-stopping hero of Western right-wing pundits) is planning to bring in 500.000 foreign laborers to Hungary. The greatest importer of migrants into Hungary is not the EU or Soros, but actually Orbán! That's how cynical and duplicitous his regime is. P.S.: Orbán's much publicized border fence is only able to stop about 10% of illegal migrants because guess what: so many people have left Hungary to escape Orbán's regime that there is a severe labor shortage in the country and the government simply does not have the manpower to keep the borders safe. They just cannot find enough physically and mentally suitable, working-age men to fulfill these roles. Securing the borders from migrants is pure Orbán propaganda. The only reason the influx of migrants is not causing much trouble is that nobody wants to stay in Hungary (not even many Hungarians...) so the migrants who cross Orbán's border fence immediately move on to Western countries.>>
