Add Prince of Egypt, The Last Temptation of Christ, First Reformed, Hacksaw Ridge to the list of Christian movies made by non-Christians which totally rock. I also personally really enjoyed Heaven is for Real, even as someone who usually, like Frank thinks most Christian movies are very cringe worthy and wooden and straw man the opposing view.

Hollywood.. what’s in a name? … the wood of the holly tree is used in witchcraft for wands and spells because it is considered by occultists to have the strongest magical powers…. Hollywood will do anything it can to distort the word of God, the truth of God, the Light of God. They welcomed The Passion of The Christ because they thought it would be a “flop” …but the Lord will NOT be mocked…try as they may. God bless Mel Gibson for bringing Christ’s message to more people . ✝️✝️✝️✝️❤️✝️

It seems that when the message is a Christian one, the writing becomes rather heavy-handed and superficial. The Wicker Man is a good example: Peter Shaffer, a writer I would normally rate very highly, builds a suspenseful horror around the platitudinous premise "Christian good, pagan bad". The whole plot depends on the assumption that removing the restraints of Christianity would automatically result in savage barbarism.

The problem with Christian movies is they make since to the Saved people because we are no longer blind by Satan. We make a movie thinking at our Christian level boring to the unbeliever. Today’s secular movies are full of foul language and subliminal anti Christian themes. I don’t watch them anymore. Christian movies are getting much better at entertainment with pro Christian themes. Please support struggling Christian films or they will not improve. A bad Christian film is better for your spirit than a godless secular film.

Agreed with everything said here. There are a lot more christians that work in entertainment than some may think, and we can encourage more to go in there and tell interesting stories with good or inspiring messages. Especially if one is concerned about some of the stuff that gets pushed in media.

You didn't think The Passion was cringe worthy? It's considered the most violent, gory, bloody and painful depiction of someone being tortured in film history. Not only that but it was in the wrong language and kept many antisemetic tropes.

I want to be a game developer, and I *really* want to do this type of thing. The only issue is I dont have any examples of how others have done storytelling to lead people to christ. I mean really, the parables are all we have to go off, right? Narnia and veggietales are about the only two things that kind of have it. What I find is my understanding of the word is lacking, I need to read more and fully understand these stories, how they are told, what they mean, how to apply them in my life. I grew up in the church so I have good foundation, but I dont yet have enough to turn that into a story in which I can give to the masses. My main obstacle seems to be how to make and allegory for God in a story. I just dont want to make something that represents God improperly.

In the 80s, the Christian Rock explosion proved that Christian music could be as good, and sometimes even better than the secular equivalent. "The Jesus Revolution" as well as the recent documentary film, "Trenches Of Rock", appears to have done likewise for Christian film making.

I completely agree with you that most Christian movies are somewhat heavy-handed. But if we’re all being intellectually honest, we have to admit that the secular movies are as heavy-handed with their “religion,” it’s just that the secular is so prevalent in entertainment that many viewers are numb to it.

Beware of anything in Hollywood lest it lead you so subtly away from the Lord. *"Blessed are they that DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates INTO THE CITY."* *"For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and MURDERERS, and idolators, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."* *"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these THINGS IN THE CHURCHES. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."* Revelation 22:14-16

Christian music and movies only stir emotions momentarily, not true repentance. True Faith is believing in what we cannot see. Although I loved the movies Ben Hur (the original) and Risen, I don't get my Spiritual bread from entertainment because they are easily forgotten. But you will never forget scripture because its the living Word of God in you. That's how people came to faith in Jesus before Hollywood even came to existence. I'm aware this is my personal conviction and not everyone will agree with me. God bless.

I can't agree more with Dr. Turek here. "Cringeworthy" is the best way to describe 90% of Christian-themed movies -- lacking subtlety and usually sub-par in terms of production values and acting ability. Well-crafted, nuanced films that reinforce Christian values and involve complex characters struggling with Judeo-Christian morality are far more appealing than the well-meaning yet boring, amateurish and heavy-handed 2-hour afterschool specials that Christian filmmakers tend to produce.

most christian movies fail for the same reason woke movies do. The message comes before the quality of the product (you can prioritize the message in your view if it is very important to you, but if you do... you gotta make sure the quality IS the priority or the message won't be heard. "The case for Christ" was one of the few movies that did it right)

There's plenty of stories to tell from inside and outside the Bible but because Hollywood resides in outer darkness, they'll be of no help in getting anything accurately depicted on screen. Boldness with the gospel and a clear counter culture position would also go much farther than mushy feel good Hallmark style films and shows. Go all in or don't bother.

Nothing. Hollywood is the center of the global and specifically American film industry. Just like the rest of America the majority of people who work in the industry are Christian. The narrative that Christianity is being treated unfairly by Hollywood is just false. While some negative tropes do exist most media produced in Hollywood shows Christianity positively and accurately.
