Just because testimony is all you can have for the Resurrection, it doesn't mean that the testimony you have is sufficient to justify believing it really happened.

Thars not correct to say you get all your truth from science, you get truth from evidence! Theres no evidence that leads back to jesus first hand. Most of what is written was written long after his death. It would be like there was no documents or anything written about WW1 and you started writing now. How accurate do you think it would be??

Most atheists today apeal to science because they believe it is the only true explanation of our reality. This is the presupposition they approach theism with. The main reason the bible is fiction to them is because of the mircals recorded in it. To most atheist, miracles are automatically ruled out because they defy the laws of nature and therefore are hard to believe. This is their world view. However, there are things that can't be measured by science. There is a plethora of documented supernatural phenomenon that suggest that science is indeed not the only true explanation of our reality.

I think the stories of Peter and Thomas in the Gospels when the risen Christ appeared to them are very real. The stories are definitely reliable and dosen't look like it was made up. I am specifically referring to Thomas doubting Jesus and Jesus asking Peter "Do you love me" three times. It seems real because Peter denied Jesus three times before the crucifixion and was broken. Obviously, it's not the best explanation. But it can be explained in more detail.

You don't seem to know what "repeatable" means in the scientific method. You're saying the science of Volcanology requires that a real volcano and all its plumbing must be "repeated" in a lab. By your logic, no YEC "geologist" scientists can claim to have done any science because they haven't made a full Earth on the lab table. Your logic...

<<@AlanXEverfrost

This man does not understand science. He does not understand the scientific method. The whole "can't repeat history in a lab" thing is practically complete nonsense. While I can't repeat Marie Currie first discovering radiation, I can repeat the experiment that PROVES radiation. I can repeat many different experiments and variations of those experiments that discover the boundaries, limitations and effects of said radiation. With repeatedly getting the same results. I cannot repeat the exact apple falling that inspired Newton, but I can repeat the experiments he did to define gravity, I can test the math he invented to figure things out and test their accuracy. We cannot repeat, but we can replicate. If a historical account is discovered that claims something happened, we can check for evidence, for other accounts that corroborate the event possibly taking place, and we can test if the event is uberhaupt possible. Several different records describing a change in the economic system of Rome, with seperate ledgers noting the different prices and sales, and ledgers from merchants in different countries noting the profits made in trade WITH Rome during that time, leaves science and history pretty convinced an Emperor had a good idea or listened to their advisors. A copy of a copy of a book that said they heard a person say forty years ago there was a giant being cruel to people who lived for centuries before being killed, when there is no skeleton of such a being, no other accounts of people saying they suffered under said giant, no buildings suited for such a being...then science is doubtful of the claim. The man saying he invented the car was believed because he had a car to show for it. The man who claims a god came down to crown him king of the earth is not believed because he has no evidence to support this unlikely claim.

<<@ParadoxDev_
says :
History doesn't necessarily look for an objective truth, it looks for what is absolutely most likely. Anything supernatural is immediately one of the least likely events, so it can't be used historically. If you want to believe supernatural events are more likely than natural, start believing in Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Krishna, Quetzalcoatl...the list goes on. Then why not also believe those miracles, like moon splitting in half, they all seem very credible if you think anything supernatural is likely.

We have a material proof of the resurrection and it is the Holy Shroud. The carbon 14 test is badly dated since the test was taken from the edge that was repaired after a fire. If the Holy Shroud is a forgery from the 11th century, why are we unable to reproduce it with the technical advances of the 21st century?

I disagree with Turek (as usual). If people popped up from the dead routinely, it would prove that people CAN pop up from the dead, which would give more merit to the resurrection of Jesus. It's like when Christians say that doing miracles on demand was only during the bible times. How can one say that god can do miracles through people (such as prophets, disciples and apostles) yet we don't see it happen now? This is nothing more than a convenient excuse from people who want to have their cake and eat it too. Where are prophets calling fire from heaven like Elijah did? Where are disciples of Jesus raising others from the dead like Peter did? Where are preachers healing the sick like Jesus did? I find it very convenient that god WAS able to do miraculous things like stopping the sun in the sky and causing dead people to be raised and walk the streets of Jerusalem, but all of a sudden god doesn't do miracles like that anymore...
