Some are very wide. Meanwhile, if you really want some "non-lethal" crossbow then get a 35lb draw and use some of the "safety bolts" available. Ex. 1: 39 m/s for a 10 g bolt yields energy = 7.60 J and momentum = 0.39 Ns.
