The amount of hyperbole is absurd, especially around the idea that children are involved. Half of the risks he named are not risks; they're intended effects. And the "no evidence of mental health benefit" is a lie. Most trans men don't opt for a phalloplasty, and the lower voice is a large part of the reason for taking testosterone. The increased health risks are not increased over that of cis people. My family is no traumatized, nor am i. I consider sterility a feature, not a bug. The only price I have paid is financial. They act as though we aren't informed about what we're doing, aren't aware of the risks, and don't spend years and years researching and considering pros and cons and going to therapy. These two have no idea whatsoever how the process works or what trans people go through that makes medical intervention necessary. They give no consideration as to what it's like to grow up trans. Vanishingly few trans people regret transition or decide to detransiton. I know many trans people-- dozens in person and hundreds online-- and not a single one, including myself, who wish they hadn't. And I'm talking about people who transitioned decades ago, who are in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and older. And I know of no negative health outcomes. They ignore the fact that trans people have existed all over the world since the beginning of recorded history. We're not new. Medical interventions that allow us to feel comfortable, whole and happy at comparatively new, but not so new that we don't have decades of evidence that they work and are low risk, because we do. These "very powerful medications" are biologically identical to the ones human bodies start to make in large quantities during puberty. These two are lying through their teeth, misrepresenting us, and making things even more dangerous for us, as though society didn't hate us and didn't already have nothing but misinformation. As though the murder rate for trans people wasn't already disproportionately high. As though we weren't already disproportionately impacted by homelessness, unemployment, violent crime, hate crimes, and discrimination of every kind. And yet we transition despite all this. You think we would put ourselves through all this is not for the fact that it's better then living an inauthentic life? They act as though it's a whim. That we just like playing pretend or that we don't like so we are, so we decide to see if changing sex will make us like ourselves. That isn't how any of this works. They don't care, they refuse to have a civil discussion with a competent trans person who can actually address those things. Or, they could just mind their own damn business>>
