<<@mrestimated says : Wow, the shouting is hard to listen to. Why is he yelling at the audience?>> <<@howardowens721 says : I applaud Frank for his robust attack on racism. For an overview of Critical Theory, this is a good introduction for anybody who isn't familiar with it. Those aren't the parts of the video I disagree with. I think he gets Biblical justice wrong. Yes, one element, in specific contexts, God's justice is not something you want to experience, but there is another aspect of God's justice that we want to experience -- that is our Kingdom commission to bring order to chaos, by feed and clothing the poor, visiting the widow and the prison, caring for the forigner, loving our neighbor That is God's justice, too, some thing MAGA Christianity loves to ignore. Regarding systematic racism, I think Frank glosses over an important point. Past sins have resonance today. Redlining in the 1950s, which Frank discusses, reverberates today. It robbed many black families of building generational wealth. We shouldn't ignore the injustice, though I don't have a good policy idea to address, but to act like it doesn't matter has its own kind of cruelty. He's wrong about Obama and his assertion that Obama repealed or "gutted" Clinton's reforms. Obama left the reforms on the books but allowed states to experiment with work requirements to try to achieve better outcomes. It's flat out wrong to say, even three years ago, "now we're paying people not to work." Under TANF, adults in most states still face time limits and are typically required to work, job-search, or participate in approved activities to keep benefits; unconditional lifetime cash assistance of the pre-1996 kind no longer exists. Frank misrepresents Jefferson's "wall of separation." The Danbury Baptists were complaining about their state’s quasi‑established Congregational order; Jefferson used the letter to signal opposition to church–state “alliances” and to explain why, as president, he would not issue official religious proclamations (fasts, thanksgivings) modeled on British practice.
In drafts of the letter, he even wrote of a “wall of eternal separation between church and state,” then toned the wording down, but the point remained: he wanted clear institutional separation to protect liberty of conscience from civil authority. The Supreme Court first drew on Jefferson’s metaphor in 1878, and more famously in 1947, quoting his “wall of separation” line as an authoritative explanation of the Establishment Clause’s meaning.
Modern courts do not treat the phrase as if it were text in the Constitution, but as a powerful summary of the idea that government may not establish religion or interfere with its free exercise, while individuals and churches still remain free to speak, vote, and advocate in public life. Frank has a blind spot when it comes to MAGA Christianity. He thinks that when the walls start closing, Christians will pull together on primary issues and set aside secondary issues. But the biggest secondary issue today in the church is politics. We're deeply divided. There are tens of millions of faithful Christians, and I'd like to include myself in that number, who totally reject MAGA Christianity. In my discussion with some of that MAGA crowd, I know there are those among them who won't accept me as a fellow Christian because I don't support their leader.>> <<@beeetsbyRay says : The premise of this whole presentation is false, CRT does not explicitly state anywhere that they strive to achieve “equity of outcome”.>> <<@Addeladlestj says : Paul was a charlatan and liar. We ALL have the same opportunity to advance in America!!>> <<@salsafirejrivera1037 says : They view contradicts itself in one sentence. Furthermore, while blacks fought (and I do mean a literal fight) for civil rights they experienced dogs and firehoses, lynchings, and riots. The Christian outcry concerning "reverse racism" is for our hurt feelings and discomfort when they demand justice. Yet, the congregation is composed of many different groups, everyone gets along, and no one ever finds the need to bring up skin color. It's probably majority white, but so is the country, why is that a bad thing? Our congregation well represents the ethinic makeup of the area as a whole, which means our church appeals to all groups equally, and all without ever mentioning skin color. I would not attend the church Frank was talking about, because I believe hiring a preacher based on skin color IS racist, and frankly if people refuse to attend a service with a pastor of a different color than them, isn't that an indication that they themselves have the racism problem? Why would we cater to that? What we should be doing is treating everyone equally and preaching the gospel, not appealing to racists. Honestly, what's so hard about that?>> <<@Ladynilow says : I’m not impressed with this at all, he is going around in circles , he says everything that a rational person would agree with (even the oppressed person) but somehow manages to end on the conclusion only privileged folks would come to ( the people he identified as oppressors) which includes himself - then he identifies this problem as the oppressed refusing to use logic?? What !! 😂when the truth is he has a thick wall of cement in his ears, even though he is listening and parroting what is being said , he actually doesn’t understand what is being said by the groups he claims are irrational. Which makes him irrational 😂 but only on this subject, he is usually the most rational person in the room>> <<@Scandalous420 says : Title says CRT vs Christianity... proceeds to talk about Critical Theory. If slavery in the Bible was voluntary, why were there laws about hitting slaves, etc? If there were laws about hitting house help today, how would you respond?>> <<@ramonpooser2434 says : There’s an enormous problem with critical race theory. It’s severely flawed, and it’s a subject matter that many people don’t care to discuss. Since CRT is what it is it’s an excuse to discuss and dismiss the topic of race as it relates to CRT that otherwise few white people care to talk about anyway. So crank up a discussion about CRT or Black Lives Matter and the subject can be crossed off the bucket list. The Bible says too much about race for the same old games of bigotry, ignorance and prejudice to be used in the place of needed critical Christian thought.>> <<@chrispatillo840 says : I’m disappointed in you frank you didn’t do your homework to quote mLK and not what he said months before his death smh you know better and to really think just teaching our history of what happened in slavery and how whites where not acting like how Jesus taught but of the devil to treat my people this way is disrespectful if you want to learn the truth and not guess ask those who know what it Reid and not spread this false narrative of Republican political propaganda>> <<@tracyavent-costanza346 says : @07:22 while preaching to the choir I assume that frank is expecting some kind of jeezus-ian response from the seats. the trouble with which is that this "commander" was executed around AD33 and is still dead. hiro was fortunate that at least suzuki could FIND HIS OLD COMMANDER and get him to the islands where hiro was. otherwise he had no one to directly take a stand-down order from. I doubt that the emperor would have done it, since he was pretty much no longer serving and hiro would not have likely known his face anyhow. really frank's elaborate story is a false parallel but what else is new with his dramatic style.>> <<@tracyavent-costanza346 says : @4:18 no, that is not the least bit unheard of in the USA. it is just couched in different terms. parents of indoctrinated children, often bid them to go and die for jeezus.
