This argument suggests that the physical constants of the universe—such as the force of gravity, the mass of subatomic particles, and the expansion rate of the universe—are finely tuned in such a way that life is possible. Even small variations in these constants would make life, as we know it, impossible. The precise conditions needed for life to exist point to the possibility of a purposeful creator or intelligent design. This is often referred to as the Teleological Argument or the Argument from Design, and it suggests that the complexity and order of the universe are best explained by the existence of an intelligent being, rather than by random chance>> <<@united_europe says : No one is looking for absolute proof for god. Instead, we should demand reasonable evidence. Sufficient evidence to justify belief. That's never presented. * the moral argument is just saying things are true for no reason (that objective morality exists, and that if it does it's best explained by a god) * the cosmological argument doesn't even conclude with a god * the teleological argument doesn't provide evidence that a god caused the design in our universe (it never even really provides evidence of the universe seeming designed)>> <<@bartleon says : Romans 1: 19 because that which is known about God is evident [m]within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. So He requires us to exercise what He has given us to prove His existence: faith. “ Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 1:1. “ But without faith it is impossible to please Him( God) , he who comes to God must believe He is and He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 . I love God because of His love for me that comes in the form of honesty , no lying. I love God because He isn’t like man, who is selfish, weak and unrighteous. But let’s cut through the chase – positing necessity is a game anyone can play. It’s not about whether one can claim the universe or God as necessary; the real challenge is determining which explanation is the most parsimonious. Why resort to a divine explanation, replete with its own complex set of assumptions, when the laws of nature provide a simpler, more direct explanation? Overextending the hypothesis only adds unnecessary layers to the puzzle. Then there’s the moral argument, suggesting that objective moral values point to a divine lawgiver. Again, we can apply Occam’s razor. Is it more parsimonious to believe in a deity imparting moral laws, or to see morality as an emergent property of human societies, shaped by evolution and social necessity? The latter does not require us to leap into the metaphysical unknown. It’s grounded in observable human behavior and historical patterns. The cosmological argument, the venerable first cause, is another area where parsimony should be our guide. Theists argue for a necessary deity as the universe’s creator. But introducing an uncaused, complex, and omnipotent deity raises more questions than it answers. Why not consider the universe itself as a brute fact, a simpler hypothesis that avoids the infinite regress of causes? Finally, the burden of proof. While theists often claim it’s on atheists to disprove God, let’s apply the principle of parsimony here as well. When natural explanations suffice to explain our universe, adding a supernatural layer only complicates things without adding explanatory power. The more parsimonious view, and thus the one that should bear less burden of proof, is the one that relies on the least number of assumptions. In essence, the theistic arguments, while thought-provoking, often fail the test of parsimony. They add layers of complexity and assumption where simpler, more direct explanations suffice. As a proponent of reason and critical inquiry, I advocate for a worldview that seeks the most straightforward, evidence-based explanations, not those shrouded in layers of divine mystery.>> <<@papiamable44 says : Why bother talking with or explaining God to an atheist. They are already condemned to exist spiritually in eternal gloomy-fire separation from Him. For whatever their rejection reasons, they are lost. Forget them, move on.>> <<@zh1992 says : There is no “absolute proof” or evidence, that’s why it’s called faith. The burden of proof is on the believer. All you ever get from atheists is, "Oh, I simply lack a belief, therefore I don't have to prove anything. Prove that your god exists, or else I am right." That is the full extent of their churlish argument and we keep hearing it over and over again ad nauseum. What these atheists do is not really debating at all; their close-minded attitude is meant to terminate any real discussion before it even begins. Stubborn, stiff-necked atheists seem to assume that theirs is always the automatic default position and that they don't have to explain, prove or justify their own logically incoherent and untenable worldview in any way. However, according to the scientific findings of anthropology, this bizarre assumption of atheism as the social and psychological default setting of mankind has been proven demonstrably false across all human cultures throughout history. When atheists do condescend to debate their opponents, the best you will get from them is some glib, mealy-mouthed reference to the multiverse theory, random abiogenesis and evolution by natural selection, and the quantum vaccuum as foundational justifications for their position. But these are all rather extravagant metaphysical speculations that simply cannot be proven empirically, which is ironic given that empiricism is typically the only epistemological standard that atheists will ever accept. And even if these speculations are assumed to be true, they don't actually explain anything; they only raise yet more vexing questions: "Where does the multiverse come from?" "How did abiogenesis occur by purely material means when this has never been seen to occur and cannot even be demonstrated theoretically?" "What is this mystical determinative mechanism called natural selection and how did it come about? How can it be random and teleonomic at the same time?" "How does something come from nothing when the quantum vaccuum is not nothing but something?" Indeed, atheism raises more questions than it answers, which most atheist simply cannot be bothered to address in defense of their cherished position. For them, atheism does not need to be proven, it should merely be assumed on blind faith -- and the fanatical piety of most contemporary atheists never ceases to astound me.>> <<@christianhayter says : More utter gunk aimed at relieving the gullible from their money>> <<@reiforsale says : The fact that we can neither deny or confirm something tells us about it's existence. And since no sane person has claimed that there is such a thing as "absolute moral values" since Hume stated that "you cannot derive an 'ought' from an 'is'" - apart from the fact that nature is amoral - we don't see our "absolute values" reflected there - there is no proof.
