7:25 - No, Dr. Peterson, it's the partial consequence of success being defined by those to whom you submit. With children, this will be defined by the mother, so - unreasonably high expectations. A young man then moves into his own, and while that unreasonable expectation never goes away, it does get pounded into a manageable shape by the hardship that is his existence. Young women eventually submit to their fathers, in days gone by, and thus have their views of success tempered by their fathers' outlook (see previous sentence). On and on like this, the human race has been able to crawl along, making progress as slight jumps here and there. It's been lovely. This functional process, however, has been interrupted recently and, without intentional attenuation, will continue to devolve.

Women were getting pregnant long before access to hormonal contraception. There was also plenty of pregnancies out of wedlock since marriage became an institution. Many women were forced into unnatural sex as a form of contraception. I call it unnatural so readers might know what I mean. Victorian era people of all classes tended to marry late (in their late twenties). Because the poor people at that time had low life expectancy, very large families were rare and the upper classes tended to have more children. Many couples did marry when the woman got pregnant and stayed together because until some time in the 20th century it was almost impossible for a woman to file a divorce against her husband. Many people get married for gifts and to have a booze up. I've been with my male partner for nearly 31 years and we are not married. We have had many ups and downs but we work on our relationship. I have borderline personality disorder too and my partner has on and off problems with alcohol. We don't get outside help because it is not available. He is working class and I am from a working class background too but I was brought up by two dysfunctional parents. I went to a state school in the 1970s and early 80s. I was academic but ordered by my controlling mother to leave school at 18 and got a low paid typing job. My life has been rubbish and I can't study as I have memory , mobility and psychological problems plus lack of funds. I'm well aware that this video is 3 years old but I admire Rob Henderson a lot and am currently reading his autobiography. He seems to be the only academic out there addressing wealth inequality🎉

What I hope to teach my kids is this. Sex is the act of gambling with the power of creation, to produce a person who will one day take on their own burden of life. That life needs guidance, being new to the world. It needs teaching, training, healing and growing to become reasonably capable of holding itself together. The power of creation in sex is such an act of mutual trust and cooperation, that the slightest misuse of it will produce additional pain and suffering to what is already the burden of pregnancy. Attacking the consequences of sex will not solve that burden, but produce another, which has been seen. Approaching the power of sex with caution and temperance will still have its problems, but you will have knowingly chosen them. Ignoring the consequences or dismissing them will make them worse. Sex is wonderful, but equally dangerous, wisely comparable to a flame. Teaching responsibility before sex is much more important than providing ways to handle misuse, and putting the traditional roles back in place.

1:21:43 Really? Why would that surprise anyone when sexless MARRIED MEN have been around as long as there has been female selection, pair bonding, and MOST IMPORTANTLY marriage. Just because there is marriage by ZERO means does that imply regular sex. Rarely "fulfilling" for either party either. Pill made this worse, other than the chance of female consequences and shotgun marriages. Do none of these "experts" EVER make the connection between SEXLESSNESS, for ANY cause, by either party, and Domestic Abuse either party cheating divorce or any other couple dysfunction in all of human History? After almost 4 decades of "Holy Deadlock", and over 6 alive, and an Adult Child Of Divorce (AOCD) conclusion of practically every married person I've ever encountered is "What Pair bond, where.!"

My ex turned out to have 2 more serious relationships and he was dating regularly. He had an open relationship with a girl in Germany, a fwb in America all the while having 3 serious relationships. I made 3 good girl friends after discovering all this after 3 years. Sadly all were really damaged because off him. 😢 It is very hard to recognise this as well. Because he treated me very well, I only got suspicious because his availability got strange, normally you grow closer, but he kept distance while saying that was due to trauma and fear. So girls! Keep your eyes wide open!

The most predatory thing about many dating apps isn't just the fact that they match you with bots just as soon as you create an account, but that you have to pay them to see those matches. So even if you manage to hold off for a while, if you find yourself in a place as many where you go through a stretch of time where you're not making any matches, you eventually find yourself thinking that maybe you really do have a match and that maybe if I give this company $50 I'll have someone to at least talk to. Then you give them your money, and now you just feel robbed. There are some decent dating apps out there (Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, Match...just to name a few), but I think they all do this to some extent.

It is basic human nature to protect what you have by any means available to you so of course people who have will use what they have to keep what they have. Everyone, if they were able, would have moved to the country when the cities were in chaos because of the riots. So we can't fault the rich for moving out of the cities at that time, but for them to say one thing and do another they are lying to themselves and to everyone else. The truth shall set you free.

Their peers are their primary competitors for gaining and maintaining status. In fact these competition status bouts among peer in the upper class are an Olympic event. Middle and especially low class are more focused on survival.
