Skeptics and pundits have been trying to disprove anything in it for thousands of years and all have failed. No other document comes close. Atheists choose to believe that “nothing” exploded and created this vast amazing infinitely complex fine tuned cosmos and that DNA was created when lightning struck a primordial slime rock. And that there are more than two genders. Silly. There is infinitely more proof for someone truly searching for the truth. Start by reading “Evidence That Demands A Verdict” by Josh McDowell. Earthquakes. Wars. Plagues. Lawlessness. Divorce. Child sacrifice to the god of self convenience. Israel back in the land after 2000 years and surrounded by enemies. Cartels controlling our southern border. Corruption. Rampant crime. Worldwide celebration of perversity. Removal of God’s word from education business society and government. Political and bureaucratic nepotism and exploitation. Democrat politicians stoking division in order to get and/or keep power. Media in collaboration with corrupt bureaucrats. Much like we are in the days of Noah. A day of reckoning is coming. I wish you well. Maranatha.>> <<@garethwest9069 says : What moral imperative does atheism provide that compels you to treat others with such decency? How can a materialist derive moral principles and purpose to our existence from mere energy and matter? There are just no 'oughts' in physics and chemistry. What is, is, that's all. Morality that is not absolute is not morality at all, it is simply personal opinion. Acknowledging wrong presupposes an objective moral standard. You may firmly believe that murder is wrong, but your fellow atheist can as easily believe that murder is fine so long as it achieves a desired goal. There is no way to determine which of you is "right" without an absolute source for righteousness. Nietzsche certainly was aware of this conundrum. He flatly asserted that once you abandon the Christian religion and God, you have no logical claim to western values at all. The modern atheist philosopher, Jurgen Habermas, concurs: "Christianity, and nothing else, is the ultimate foundation of liberty, conscience, human rights, and democracy, the benchmarks of Western civilization. To this day, we have no other options. We continue to nourish ourselves from this source. Everything else is postmodern chatter.">> <<@chaisclements6701 says : Natural laws CAN explain while we feel compelled to care about the wellbeing of our tribe. Even chimps can confirm this. There’s also a clever shifting of the burden of proof in the second half. Materialism/naturalism is the default position because it’s demonstrable. I don’t need to disprove unproven claims of miracles and spiritual experience. It’s the theists’ job to meet that burden of proof. This style of argumentation Frank uses is disingenuous at best. Dishonest at worst.>> <<@irgus9641 says : Your fictional sky fairy explains nothing, not morals, nor perceived miracles.>> <<@kiwisaram9373 says : Why do those who live by the sword, so fear those who also wield swords? I had to think about this one for a little while. Personal morals are one’s perception of what is right and wrong. That’s all. So we shouldn’t be specifically talking about what is morally good and bad. It’s more right and wrong. But what’s right and wrong? Generally speaking we have laws and rules which designate which choices are right and which ones are wrong. But those are subjective as well. We look to goals and objectives to decide what is right and wrong. If your goal is to live a happy successful life, then there are certain things that become self evident which are right and wrong. I.e. don’t kill, don’t steal, eat healthy, have positive social relationships etc. generally, all living beings have a goal of “living a good life”. Now, I didn’t watch the full podcast, nor do I really want to. I don’t know why miracles came into the discussion. But as a Christian (I don’t know why we are singling out Christian’s though) I have goals associated with what God as taught and directed. Generally speaking, the things God has taught, and specifically the things that Jesus have taught are in alignment with what the world tends to view as “right and wrong” so that we can achieve a better society as a whole. If God is real, and Jesus died and was resurrected, and Jesus offers resurrection for all mankind and Eternal life for those who obey Gods commandments
then it becomes desirably good and right for me to obey these laws. Basically, if my goal is to live in Heaven with God and my family forever
I just obey the commands of Him who offers these things. It’s in my best interest. These things become “right and wrong” for me. This morality is established. If you believe in it enough that is. If you don’t, follow your own morals. Side note, since I’m already in this far
You can have whatever morals you want. As I said, laws designate which choices are right and wrong. And while laws might not always be correct, good, or beneficial - Choosing to go against them, or defying these “societal morals” if you will, will result in consequences that you might not like. Thus it become desirable to keep society’s laws. This can create subjectively objective morals. But that’s just my two cents. Disagree if you like. Only comment if you’ll be civil please.>> <<@gi169 says : Thank you Dr. Frank. However we can explain why we can have a moral standard of right and wrong with out the existence of God. If society allows murder rape and stealing for example to go unchecked society would crumble. The reason we have moral standards is to keep society going and flourishing. God is unnecessary for moral standards. We as a society can determine moral right and wrong through observation both on individual level but also as a society as a whole. It's through our standard of morality that we define what is good and what is evil and the shades of Grey in between. Frank Turek is talking out his butt.>> <<@emgee99 says : Everyone saying: "it's good...", "it's better...", "you should..." - you assume there is some standard to adhere to whether that's human survival, or human comfort... Who said that these things are good and better?>> <<@voodoochild5440 says : You think Mother Theresa was a good person? 😂😂>> <<@joshuakohlmann9731 says : Aside from the suspect choice of the word "obligations" (isn't a good action necessarily _more_ moral if you do it without obligation?), morality is easily explained by evolution: humans are pack animals and cooperative behaviour strengthens communities and societies, which in turn increases the chances of survival. And the claim that it's unlikely that all miracle claims are false is just plain daft. Isn't being unlikely part of the very nature of a miracle? Miracles are _by definition_ unlikely, so it's necessarily more probable that the claim is false. That probability, of course, doesn't increase with the number of claims made, as Frank implies by throwing in words like "all" and "every single" - more of his usual linguistic trickery.>> <<@themilkman5696 says : So many people here spouting stuff they know they don’t agree with. If someone saw their family member dying next to them with a bottle of medicine 2 feet away, I’m sure they wouldn’t be arguing about how that someone isn’t morally obligated to help their family member. “It’s just better for society” yeah go ahead and define better while you’re at it>> <<@thatomofolo452 says : I know 🙋🙋>> <<@StruckDownNotDestroyed says : God has gifted us not only with the knowledge of Himself but with a conscience and conviction of sin. Example the USA has a constitution, we follow it. It's seems kinda silly to let a religion/ your beliefs to justify anything since it's our constitution which lets you practice your goofy religion in the first place.>> <<@longdongdre says : the jews persecuted jesus- now we face bourla epstein weinstein rosenstein krinski walinsky fink madoff schumer dahmer>> <<@Gek1177 says : Well, morality is basically the concept of good and bad behaviour(s) with an emphasis on doing good and avoiding bad. So a moral obligation is the idea that in a certain circumstance it is generally accepted that a person ought to do a particular good thing. An example might be that as a guest to a meal one should always eat all that they take. This is something of a moral obligation in many Western cultures because it's considered good not to be wasteful or greedy. Interestingly in some Eastern cultures it's considered rude to eat all that you take. Not because they are wasteful but because it is, shameful as a host to be unable to fill your guest. So as a guest you'd be morally obligated not to eat all that you take. Ironically these are opposite moral obligations. It seems pretty clear that morality is the concept of proper behaviour and moral obligations can vary from culture to culture.>> <<@Bomtombadi1 says : We aren’t obligated.>> <<@Scorpion-my3dv says : Amen>> <<@larzman651 says : That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS and shalt believe in thy heart that GOD raised him from the dead thou shalt be Saved 🙌 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation>> <<@RangerRyke says : Because it helps us survive.>> <<@nooneisprophetinhisownland2486 says : JESUS IS LORD. ♄ Soon everyone will find out.>> <<@pwill4real855 says : I love your philosophy Frank.
