If God will not guarantee me protection from hell while I "check out" Christian claims, then doesn't that mean it would be better for me to first believe, and only later go looking for the evidence? But if I need to convert before "checking out" the evidence, what is the purpose of Turek in giving apologetics arguments to unbelievers? Is Turek expecting that yes, God will likely protect those unbelievers in his audience from hell for a least a few days as they go about Googling his claims? You have a right to be skeptical, but you better do the research and dig deeper because there's a lot at stake. No one can force you to believe anything but let's look at a few things. First things first, Jesus was real. His life and death was extremely well documented through History. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, which is a truth claim. Either it's untrue and he was a liar, or he told the truth and Jesus is the most IMPORTANT event to ever happen on earth. There really isn't any in-between logically speaking. For those that don't know or haven't studied, Jesus fulfilled the prophesies many years before his birth, one of many which was that he would spend a season Egypt, which he did. There is a lot and this alone should be one of the main reasons you take Jesus seriously, look them up it is incredible and there's way to much to be fulfilled by chance. In addition to this Jesus had no sin. It seems like a simple statement but if you really think about it every person you have EVER met you know has done at least one thing wrong, especially the longer you spend time with anyone. If anyone says they have never sinned others would laugh and not believe it. No one laughed at Jesus when they found out he was without sin, and some even followed him until death for their belief in Jesus. Now that I've given some positive example here are some things for the Atheist to consider. Being consistent with your belief and thought process is key, so by claiming there is no God there are a few issues that have to be addressed. The Atheist view lived out in real life, not my personal view: If there is no God and we are all atoms and are here by chance, and there is no accountability after death then there is no standard of right and wrong. I can do what I decide is right, if that is murdering someone or stealing for my gain or I find pleasure in it the there is nothing wrong with that. If I decide to do good then it ultimately doesn't matter because it's my own interpretation of good, and if I change my mind tomorrow and do bad then it's ok too. Society also can't tell me what's right and wrong because each society gives a different standard. That's what living out the Atheist lifestyle looks like. Yes an Atheist can have morals and be moral, they just can't justify WHY these morals are worth holding on to or justify why something is right or wrong, or why it even matters if everything is ultimately meaningless and we're all just atoms here by chance. Good Samaritan story. Why was it wrong to walk by someone in need? Because a person has value because God says they have value. If there is no right or wrong then it's not wrong to walk by someone who needs help. Everyone should then always do what's best for themselves even at the expense of others. When you look at the complexity of the human eye and how incredible our body works together, and how the earth exists and how we all have a moral code inside of us, there are too many factors for it to be by chance. Think through all of these things and do more research, and read through The Bible before making any decisions. I bring up all these points in love. And for anyone who hasn't heard: John 3:16 "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.">> <<@haakon_hk says : I love all of these links to the crowd talking. 1:40 - 1:50, 1:30. I'm still trying to find the videos for someone else. 1:40-1:50 This annoys me every time. Thoughts/concepts are not immaterial; they are not gateways to the supernatural. Thoughts are chemical reactions occurring in the brain. If you cut a piece of someone's brain out, he won't have that thought, or that concept, or that emotion anymore. Why? Because everything we know about thoughts is physical. There is no hard evidence to support the existence of the supernatural. So, you can't link the mind to the supernatural without first confirming the supernatural exists.>> <<@zeddicuszorrander3599 says : 46:50-47:15 That's not an adequate explanation to why the first cause was alive/had a mind, or is sentient. Frank Turek made a jump in reasoning. "It must have a mind to create." Why do you think that? It could just be a natural function of reality. I could say the same thing about gravity. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgement as to the existence of gods until sufficient credible evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence as to why I currently  hold to such a position. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding any acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.>> <<@theoskeptomai2535 says : Why would anyone need faith to be an atheist? An individual either acknowledges the existence of a god (theist) or does NOT acknowledge such an existence (atheist). I have never encountered any evidence that suggests the existence of a god. This is more so if the love and the fear are deeply intertwined. For example, if it's believed that the slightest display of disloyalty incurs a risk of suffering extreme and eternal pain in hell, then the motive to understand others will likely not be there. This is because to try to understand others would be a display of disloyalty. I think this is why Frank makes so many lousy arguments against atheists.
