They could also have been mislead. That's a third option he didn't consider. Maybe someone stole his body and hide it somewhere where they wouldn't find it, and then made them think he had risen. And they had a big motive to believe in it, because they had bet their entire life on following him.

the resurrection is not a universal fact, it's a belief based on later writings. The earliest gospel, Mark, ends without any resurrection appearances in its original version. Plus, a resurrection doesn't prove someone is God. Lazarus was raised from the dead, no one calls him divine. And let's imagine the empty tomb was real Islam believes that Jesus was Rosen to heaven without crucifixion if the empty tomb was correct it supports this statement, So they were mistaken by the crucifixion and THERE WAS NO DEAD BODY

A lot of presuppositions about what people would or would not do. It is a logical fallacy to assume that just because someone is willing to die for a cause, that the cause has to be true (there are many historical accounts of people willing to die for causes; for example: 39 members of the “Heaven’s Gate” religious cult committed suicide together in 1997 because they thought it would "save" them to a higher existence). Most apologists and Christians basically just assert that because the bible says Jesus was resurrected, that Jesus was resurrected. However, no written testimony from any of the so-called eyewitnesses to the resurrected Jesus exists. So how does one "prove" that it happened; how does one really know? None of the apologists that I've listened to actually address these questions. (PS: A flowchart is not proof!)

Frank has always been a liar 🤦🏾♂️ 1. We don't even know where or if Jesus was buried in a tomb 2. Human resurrection is biologically impossible. 3. Just like the Muslims and Jews y'all think are wrong, they too were wrong. 4. They definitely had incentives to lie. 5. Martyrdom ≠ a religion being true. 6. No evidence outside the Bible proves Jesus's resurrection. It's simply a matter of faith.

<<@etaggie09

The Resurrection event is the crux of Christianity’s claim to truth. He answers the two possibilities of the story being intentionally fabricated or just one big mistake in a hugely biased way that makes it seem like the Lord conclusion is the only one that makes sense. This is an unbelievably flimsy argument. How can you say that the threat of persecution perfectly eliminates the incentive to lie about the resurrection? That’s what he is saying but who would really 100% agree with that premise? Similarly, you need to look no further than the world we live in now for countless examples of people stubbornly clinging to beliefs (not necessarily limited to religious ones) even when they are presented with virtually irrefutable data to the contrary. I am in no way equipped to be able to prove that the Resurrection did or did not happen, but don’t just take this lazy argument that reeks of confirmation bias and say QED.

regarding motive, isn't it plausible that they took the body in order to demonstrate a further fullfullment of the prophecy? I am a believer but I am looking for clearer and more direct evidence for this. Why is it implausible that the writers of the New Testament embalished certain instances in order to indicate the fullfillment of specific prophecy claims in the Old Testament? This is something that false prophets used to do pretty often in 1st century Judea. Why is this implausible in the case of the New Testament that the writers had made a list of the old testament prophecies and wrote them into the ministry of Jesus? I do believe in Jesus and His ministry, I am just looking for clearer evidence regarding this particular theory...

It seems to me that the surprising thing is the dead of Jesus rather than his resurrection. Jesus did nothing wrong. He was declared by the holy Father to be well pleasing to him. The only way that the sinless, pleasing Jesus could die is if he were held legally responsible for the wrong doing of other people; the the Lord laid on Jesus the iniquity of his people and he died in their place. Once the condemnation of all those sins was completed, then it was impossible for death to hold Jesus.

<<@dallas1891

If the resurrection happened it DOES NOT mean Jesus is Lord. It means he rose from the dead. Thats it. Jesus being “Lord” is a separate claim.

Now there was a Jewish preacher named Jesus of Nazareth who did get crucified and had a following. However he was definitely not the only one. As it was very common to preach the end of days narrative and in fact Jesus got it wrong as he promised his disciples that would come to pass during their lifetime. So unless they were immortal his prediction didn't come true. Most apocalyptic cults were convinced that it would come to pass shortly. Even after the s vind temple got destroyed and the Jews cast out of the "holy land" they were convinced that would come to pass shortly. There have been a few messiah claims over the last two centuries of supposed return that also turned out to be incorrect. To no one's surprise.

even if it didn't happen, does it really change the underlying reasons why his way was the way of righteousness. you can see the evils in the world. anyone that is not deluded can see understand what is actually good and evil. and the evils of the world are more threatened by Jesus than anything else. His life and ideals are more important. they speak for itself. magic and something being an authority figure creator or not doesn't diminish or offer any more credibility to why it is righteous. what is righteous is inherently so.

The accounts were written decades after the facts. By people who did not wittness the events. So no, this argumentation is completely off-point, as the people who wrote (ie, in this case, potentially made it up) the stories, were not the ones *described in the story* to have suffered from it. I also dont think anybody necessarily lied. A Jesus likely existed. Well, many did. It's *the* Jesus we arent so sure about. The one that performed magic tricks. A Jesus that lived was likely some important philosophical, spiritual or religious person, who developed into a full fledged myth after his death. The type of reasoning given in the video is the one that only convinces people who already (want to) believe this stuff.

Being duped out of what like lets all be real i thought being duped was like being conned out of your money. I know someone bout to say you're being duped into believing jesus existed. My answer to that being and what negative effects have i experienced by that. Ain't that a win win situation for me....if he turns out to be fake well at least i did good in his name and hope was given to millions Through this "fake" person. But if he is real then Atheist are damed. Seems to Atheist are the ones who got something to lose

Oh come on. None of the so called witnesses to the resurrection is verified with signed authorship. This is what I constantly keep calling out the apologists on in my own vids. Authorship of witnessed signature. The earliest texts written were decades after the fact, 30 years at best. This screams urban legend. At least Joseph Smith had 11 actual signatures of verified people who existed. I think they are lying but at least they say they were there. You have none for the resurrection and constantly the apologist uses the circular reasoning of using bible texts to prove the bible which is a huge fallacy. They do not win with us skeptics with this sort of bad speculation. Cheers, DCF

Thanks I needed that. Also like Isaiah chapter 52:last three verses and Isaiah chapter 53 for a great prophecy about the about the crucified messiah and how it doesn't end in his death and psalms 22 about death on a cross by the messiah. Also Yeshua by Yacov Rambsel is one of the best books I know about for building faith in Jesus besides the Bible itself.
