To shoot a moving target at home without having to build much of a mechanism, hang your target from a rope and set it swinging (like a pendulum). Then step back to your desired distance—there should be very little friction, so it will still be swinging—and shoot. Of course, you don't *have* to set the target just swinging along a straight line directly under the point of suspension; if you give it a bit of a shove as you start it swinging, you can get various elliptical tracks as well (at the price of somewhat faster decay and almost surely more twisting). If you don't want the target to twist, use two ropes, suspended from two points along the line of fire. Set the target swinging perpendicular to the line of fire, step back along the line of fire, and shoot as before. Just a thought...

Bad bow. Doesn't break through the screen. This time, Mr. Engineer, you couldn't outdo yourself.

Maybe it would be better to stick to Zombie hunting: shooting poor animals, even virtual ones, makes the game a lot less fun.

I did something like this with gas blowback guns at the airbase near my hometown back in like 2009. Law Enforcement Explorers program was being hosted by the head of security for the base and showed us all kinds of cool tech. I wish I had video of it, fun times.

Using blunt tips that don't penetrate the target would make the target undamaged.

What is the screen/target made off? How can you shoot regular arrows without damaging the screen?
>>
<<@Noneyabiz001
says :
An archery club near me has something very similar to this. Instead of using a mat where the arrow sticks they use a thick curtain and the arrow falls to the floor. Idk how they track the arrow and the hits but it very accurate. I had the opportunity to use the range in the past and it worked well. The one thing I can tell you about the function is, after every shot there was a few second pause. I assume so the computer could determine the shot placement. The nice thing about this one in the video is, you can take multiple shots on an animal as you may in real life. The system in this video seems to be far superior as far as registering the shot placement.

it's just like the EST 2000 system used in the military, but with bows it's really cool to see the technology being used for other things now

Question for the whip shot. Will there be a commercially available double stack magazine and rear picatinny rail for it in the future? Also great video, that is an awesome game.

There is quite a bit of work that has to be done, but the idea is really good and it has a lot of potential for use in many areas.

In early 2000s I experienced very similar system, but for airguns/airsoft. The whole screen has built-in hit detection system (something like 4 microphones at corners measuring time of vibrations from the hit and triangulating position). So the projection system does not blinks to check anything with camera, the detection was instantaneous. And there was number of games and live-action videos like in old shooting gallery-style games. One game was based on starship troopers where you have to shoot over 9000 bugs. The hardware was incompatible with archery, though, but the general idea was the same: use something real too shoot inside a game.
