I'M SORRY TO SAY THIS. BUT PLS DON'T THINK I'M BEING SARCASTIC HERE. THIS IS NOT A BIG THING. THIS IS A BIG THING IF THE PERSON IN THE IMAGE IS REALLY YOU AS IN A TRADITIONAL CAMERA OR TV OR MONITOR. WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING IS THE SYSTEM CREATES A DIGITAL AVATAR OF YOU WHICH RESEMBLES AND IMITATES YOU. THIS AVATAR IS IN THE 3D ENVIRONMENT OF DEPTH NOT YOU. THIS IS REALLY BORROWED FROM JAMES CAMERON.

I mean a camera behind a face is a great Idea but you seriously missed out on putting two cameras behind a face and allowing viewers to use the stereoscopic effect, (crossed eye 3D) can't find anything online of anyone trying that ๐ข

I immediately thought about using this for education like a museum exhibit, "Talk to Uncle Abe Lincoln" or "WWJD counseling conversations." I also thought this would be great as social engagements for more introverted people or people with high anxiety. Of course the costs would have to come down.

You know what this kid of looks like? Those ollllllllllld fashioned โMadam fortune tellerโ effects but entirely digital. Like I never thought Iโd see the day where we have true 3D much less 3D that can be translated through another camera instead of the source. Imagine how trippy this tech would be in a movie. Like yeah it would be a setup that only one person at a time could realistically use unless maybe done via VR. You could probably create a program that held all the depth data for the movie file in the background and moved with as you interacted with it via your movement to give this stereoscopic view.

So... Google Starline is same as Star Trek - The Next Generation viewscreen on the bridge... If someone has not noticed, all the filming of the opposition parties that are shown on the viewscreen, is made from the same angle as the camera is used on the bridge to look at them. So if camera was on the left wall, you looked both parties from same perspective at the left wall, and not from the front of the camera. It is exactly like this, where you can move around the bridge and see the opposite side as they would be behind that viewscreen on bridge. In the 1986 mockups of the bridge designs, there are all these very fancy ultra wide screen ones, that has taken in production only in recent shows like Picard and Discovery, where you have the 10-20 meters wide viewscreen on bridge that looks like a wall is missing on the bridge, as it isn't there, as it is forcefield. But in TNG they kept that viewscreen size narrow as it was then possible get recorded in 4:3 ratio for the scenes.

What I'm wondering is, if you're looking at eachother's eyes, how does this TV achieve that? Normally when you look at a TV and the person on TV is looking into your eyes, it's because they're looking at the camera lense.. My brain cannot right now.

Maybe they could make this into a TV. Like, when you are watching content, it is a regular TV, but then when you video call someone, you will feel like you are looking through a window and talking to them as if they were really there. Maybe Apple can do something like that with FaceTime and Apple TV?
