This was the first time I've seen one of these launch infomercials. Funny, until now it hadn't occurred to me that the corporatization of humanity's space exploration bears eerie resemblance to the gilded dystopia that our cultural luminaries have been warning us about for nearly a century. Maybe it was the creepy, saccharin-sweet joy that the presenters applied equally to every topic, with robotic indifference (I've been virtually isolated from both American mainstream media, and television "news" presenting for about 20 years, so maybe I'm just naive to what passes for normal. But man, does that style ever give me the heebie-jeebies!). Maybe it was the juxtaposition of celebrating Saudi-Arabia for fielding their first Femstronaught (yeah, I hatched that odious chimera, what of it? I'm highlighting the disingenuous praise for paper thin psuedoequality so I'm allowed to ruffle a few feathers, cause calling me out means you support misogyny! 😜) by praising her distinguished academic achievements, then unironically commending her mundane position as a laboratory technician.>>
