Alex O'Connor (formerly CosmicSkeptic) has explicitly stated he takes the argument from JL Schellenberg's argument from hiddenness. In response to Schellenberg, the philosopher Christopher Cloos has said: (T1) If God does not exist, then no finite person is ever resistantly in a state of belief in relation to the proposition that God exists. (T2) Some finite persons are or have been resistantly in a state of belief in relation to the proposition that God exists. (T3) Therefore God exists. (T1, T2 by modus tollens) The principle of non-existence (PN): (PN): If an object or a person x does not exist, then nothing can incline a person y who is resistant to the belief that x exists to a state of belief that x exists. If a person desires not to believe that x exists, and x doesn't exist, then it would be surprising that the person would believe in x's existence. This contrasts with wanting to believe in the existence of a person that doesn't exist, which is a fairly common phenomenon, especially when one tragically loses a loved one.

I think theres two possible conclusions to make with the genuine seeker who doesent find. The first is one Frank already brought up. Perhaps in time they will find it. We as Christians believe the grace of God falls on all people, even the wicked. Its entirely possible God will make sure the genuine seeker stays alive until he finds Him. The second is genuine seekers may be given the "absolute proof" they were looking for towards the end of their life. Many an atheist or agnostic, who has no reason to make anything up, have experienced documented super natural events that ultimately lead them to find God, many being on their deathbed. If God wishes that none should perish, theres nothing in conflict with the idea that these genuine seekers are given a final crossroads to accept or reject Him in the final moments. Sean McDowell has a few interviews on his youtube channel regarding these. and they are fairly compelling.

There's no difference between resistant and non-resistant. You have to pray and to seek for Him yourself, you have to do it according to the Bible, not according to what you think of it, you need the first source.

As an ex Christian I have to disagree with the last point. An all-knowing god should understand the intentions of a person's heart, even if shrouded by some kind of internal confusion. I sought the god of the bible fervently for years but found myself slowly give into the divine hiddenness against my own will. Sure you could say that I don't understand my own mind and perhaps other factors led me to atheism, but this god should have seen my struggle to hold on to belief regardless and offered any kind of reprieve to the oppressive doubts. As for the first two points, we'll see, but I don't see it as my job to wait around for such an indifferent being. If this god wants me, this god can pursue me.

If we have attachments to sin, vice, chronic morally wrong bad habits, its very easy to say âi just cant find God, but im open to finding him.â But thats just cheap talk. You already know youâd have to break your habits of sin if you actually found God, so you dont want to find Him. Youre much more comfortable worshipping your vice/sin. Be it porn, food, money, ego, etc. people who build their sense of self on these habits rarely want to change. They have to hit rock bottom and see the need for change of their own accord. Habits and addictions are really hard to let go of. But all things are possible in Christ.

I got a practical example of this: i was studying the bible with this dude who claimed he was really seeking God, and he wanted to believe, but he kept asking me for an unbeatable argument for God, or some uncontestable proof, that without that he just couldn't believe. Even after I went through all arguments (fine tuning, moral, historical evidences, etc), he still refused to believe and yet put the burden of proof on me. God is the origin of everything because nothing existed before eternity. Would you listen to me because I may know something that you don't and you claim to be rational, open minded and seek the truth? What I am going to say is going to rattle you because it is the truth you are not familiar with. I was religious and atheist and i escaped out of the cults inmune to arguments that harm innocent and innocent children. The religious god doesnât exist because it is impossible to know the future of life because free will is an uncaused cause. If the future was known all reality would be deterministic. I am not asking you to agree with me, only to understand. God is not sky daddy or a personification of oneself to worship, obey and fear. For God's sake try to understand. God, the intelligent creator of the creation, is all eternal and infinite reality, everything that ever existed, exist and would exist, the metaphysical entity that the kalam cosmological argument talks about. We are literally an infinitesimal part of infinite God. Religious people misunderstanding reality are earning an eternal hell of shame, ridicule, absurdity for having been deceived with a lie that looks like a lie. God can not be deceived and all would know all in perfect justice. Atheism and religion are beliefs in the impossible. It is impossible the existence of the creation without the existence of the creator because from non existence can not be created existence, and try to make understand the obvious to atheists! "Who created god?" would be the nonsensical remark. Atheism has only irrational remarks and no arguments. The concept of religion is so absurd that only people willing to believe anything for the empty promise of eternal happiness would not understand the obvious. The reality is that happiness can not exist without unhappiness because happiness is defined by unhappiness. Humanity are so deceived that they would not understand the deception if an encyclopedia was written explaining the obvious. I have discovered that atheism is a logical fallacy and that the Nobel Prizes are given to friends and family. I don't want your money or your awards, but I need several social media accounts that are suspended recovered because they store valuable knowledge and truth for future generations. I fear that people who confuse saying the truth with hate speech and informing to save lives with spamming, and get to positions of responsibility, would not understand the value of knowledge and could destroy without asking the children of my intelect with disastrous consequences. I have not been able to contact the companies and the longer it takes the worse. Atheism is a logical fallacy that assumes God is the religious idea of the creator of the creation to conclude wrongly that no creator exists because a particular idea of God doesnât exist. After being exposed as a fallacy, or lie that harms innocent and vulnerable children, atheism keeps strong and atheists unperturbed. To end the war in Ukraine the discovery that atheism is a logical fallacy needs to be known.

Do many people find themselves unable to believe that my wife exists? No. Because itâs trivially easy to show my wife is real. Does that mean sheâs violating my free will by forcing me to believe she exists? What a joke. Your god has all the same attributes as an imaginary friend, and it shows. We donât believe in any imaginary friends, including yours. Itâs that simple. When it comes down to it, the Christians I chat with simply have an emotional need for their god to exist. Unfortunately, that neediness isnât evidence, itâs just indoctrination.

The problem is not that people are ignoring god.... The problem is that the apologist is frustrated at their inability to get others to acknowledge someone who isn't there When all else fails for the apologist, they resort to gaslighting by trying to falsely claim that the problem is with the skeptic, rather than recognizing their own incompetence and failure to provide sufficient evidence
>>
<<@weirdwilliam8500
says :
This is a psychological defense for Christians, for thought-stopping so they wonât consider the points of anyone who disagrees with them. If people agreeing with you is evidence that youâre correct, and people disagreeing with you is also seen as indirect evidence that youâre correct, this is a fallacy called Mortonâs Fork. This type of thinking is used to protect unjustifiable beliefs, because it rules out any method to even consider you may be wrong. It can be used equally to protect any belief whether false or true, and so is a fallacy. Apologetics is built on fatal flaws in reasoning like this.

Turek and many others don't even realize that they are actually the ones "suppressing truth" which is projection Atheists don't suppress the truth, we acknowledge the reality that god doesn't exist and the painful reality that there is no afterlife even if that sounds unappealing, because we recognize that reality doesn't care about our feelings. The irony is that its actually the theist who suppresses reality by believing in things that aren't real to help them cope with reality

When someone insists there is no shred of evidence for God's existence, clearly they are suppressing, a more honest response would be; there is evidence but it hasn't convinced me yet. Afterall an Atheist is only one uncaused first cause away from being a Theist; we believe that first cause came before and created us intelligent agents, while Atheists believe that we humans are the first uncaused intelligent cause (apparently)

The Good News is although ALL have sinned and face condemnation, God provides righteousness to all who put their trust in Jesus (3:22). I encourage believers and non believers to study all of Romans.

I always find it funny when Turek brings up this war on the definition of "Truth". Since he also invokes Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity in his cosmological argument. He apparently doesn't understand it, not even the title. Because it's right there "relativity". The whole theory is about how your reference frame determines your truth. It's laughable in his book "Not enough faith to be an atheist" when he declared "there is NO relative truth" and in the next chapter goes "I believe in the Theory of Relativity". You couldn't make that up. đ

Let's structure this in the form of a logical syllogism with premises and a conclusion, then you can indicate which specific premises you disagree with that would invalidate the derived conclusion ........ *Premise one* The Christian God is said to be morally perfect, loving, omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent. *Premise two* Belief in this specific god is required to prevent an eternal torture and attain salvation. *Premises three* The Christian God wants all to know of his existence and thus be saved. *Premise four* The Christian God would have both the ability and desire to demonstrate his existence to all. *Premise five* More that three quarters of the world population do not think the Christian God exists. *Conclusion* The Christian God as described does *NOT* exist
