which is more common in real life with Australian, spiders in shoes, towels, or swimming pools? The comments make it sound like checking shoes is basically a survival ritual

We used to play with these spiders at school. We would give caffeine to an anthill and then drop the spider in and make it fight the ants or other spiders.

Venom did indeed evolve primarily as a tool for predation (specifically targeting insects and small prey) or defense, with its deadly impact on humans often being an accidental, coincidental result of evolution. Venom components are designed to attack fundamental biological processes—such as nervous system signalling or blood clotting—that are conserved across many species, including humans.

Have to check your shoes and bed linens in Hawaii too. Centipedes and scorpions are the problem there. Not usually deadly, but can lead to terrible wounds

0:30 this is a funnel web spider. Yes but a totally harmless one. If you wanna set up the video don't add a spider that is not in the video. And to claim the one in the picture live around Sydney is so bad. Sydney funnel-web spider is the one that should be in those images.
