The death of Jesus was the true passover. (1 Corinthians 5) Jesus was the rock that was smitten in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10) Jesus is the true manna/bread from heaven (John 5-6) Jesus fulfilled the law (Matthew 5) by showing the true standard of righteousness in the heart. Jesus is the final sacrifice that took away/forgave our sins (Hebrews 10) Jesus is the temple (John 2) and we are His body through His Spirit dwelling in us (Ephesians 2, 1 Corinthians 12) Jesus is the true circumcision by the Holy Spirit in our hearts by faith (Philippians 3, Romans 2) Jesus is the royal priesthood and we are also the same by faith in Him (Revelation 5, 1 Peter 2) Jesus is the New Jerusalem and we are His bride (Revelation 21) Jesus is Lord and God.

Matthew wrote fiction. Of course, he would write those parallels. Matthew also wrote that Jesus would bring violence and war. Isaiah on the other hand wrote that the true Messiah would bring peace. You picked your poison; I didnโt.

The Jesus story is the work of Christian writers who needed a super hero to replace the defeated Yahweh after the destruction of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem which Yahweh was unable to prevent. Notice that Jesus, the son of Yahweh, or Yahweh in human form, has the power of every god, and the wisdom of every philosopher, in his resume. You can't top that. Even so, he cannot end world hunger or genocide with the super powers assigned to him by his Christian writers.

Matthew 25: 1-13 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Frank makes a great argument here for why Matthew shouldn't be taken as literal history. It's more likely that these parallels were constructed by the author to resonate more with his Jewish audience.

Yeah... it's almost like Matthew *_already knew_* he Torah and modelled his stories about Jesus after the narratives about the Israelites he already knew, and which he knew his audience would or could know. This sounds like evidence for Matthew inventing a storyline to me, not for his narrative to be literally true.
