Too heavy...I find the light weight of the long Mora insulation knife great for off trail walks but it seems unwise to swing hard and wild with my big Lab dog running around at 90mph in the woods and being nuts. The original Mora handle to the insulation knife keeps failing because it was not meant to be a machete but that thing can hold an edge much longer than you might think. Mostly I have to cut thorny bush to retrieve dog toys and to walk rough sticker prone ground not get tripped by slippery undergrowth in uneven rocky terrain. I got the folding machete you made. So nice, but it is too thick and slow for light brush and it is a bit short really. Plus...it seems too nice to mess up. So nice It waits to be given as a present or something. I also got the long folding AUS-10 Cold Steel Espada. It is OK. Maybe it is me but I can't get the AUS-10 edge super sharp like the Mora. Too thick a blade I suspect. The semi long Cold Steel Raja 2? has a nice kukri shape that is somewhat better for chopping and almost better than the Espada for light stuff because it is light. Anyway, lately I use a cheap long super thin light wood handled christmas tree trimming knife with some success in the woods clearing trail and whacking thorns but it is delicate and just a bit light for anything woody. The blade is starting to get loose. It has a nice round blunt end so it does not seem like a threat to hinky passers by or a potential dog slicer. I tried the long No. 10? opinel but the handle is slow, smooth and clumsy. It is not much of a chopper, even for light stuff. However...the Opinel handle idea is great....a 15 inch or so light sharp trail blade that somehow fold or hides in a 15 inch ordinary looking wood handle that could almost be used for a staff when climbing slippery ravines. Whatever comes...it should be designed for chopping at least 1/2 inch dry stuff and green thorny bush that takes over here in the upper Midwest of the Driftless Area of USA. It needs to have a sling or something so I Never have to put it down when I take photos or look at rock stuff or eat berries lest it get lost say tossing it when clambering over deadfall. I truly can't tell if the new serrated blade Mora is superior to the plain blade in most cases but the new serrated Mora has a sharp sharp pointy blade that makes it a little delicate and tricky to swing hard without say chopping off a dog tail. It is great in thorns though. But I can't easily replace it in a sheath without sawing the sheath in two. The original plain and normally pointed Mora blade was a heck of a nice chopper....until the handle broke about 5 times because the tang is just too short for chopping much hard dry wood really. Now you can't buy it...only the pointy serrated one.

The black smith in me hopes all that material that is taken away in the grinding step is caught & given or sold to a smithy to forge into something other than just thrown out. Not too sure about using PLA or Resin for scales but that's just the issue those materials have with heat. Leave one of those PLA scales out in the sun & it may warp or just melt if left for long.

I'm interested in UK-legal EDC knives - non-locking folders under 2.5" blade length. I have a lovely one from Whitby Knives but would really love if someone made a broad-bladed sturdy EDC folder. Essentially a mini-gogun with no lock.
