I think I've finally come to understand exactly, experientially, what he means. If you're willing, here's a little story time: I have ADHD, so my mind will try to overanalyze, to overthink, to understand something, with great impatience, which I need to experience before I can know. I remember first hearing Sadhguru make this statement about not imitating someone else, or having a role model around 2018. I thought to myself, "but there are so many people with attitudes, behaviors, or some kind of traits that I want to have myself." I wondered and struggled with the idea that one have someone else as a muse for what we wish to become. Now I finally realize that Sadhguru means to not place the person themselves on some kind of pedestal. I can still embody those qualities from great humans without focusing on the person(s) specifically. This is what "guru" means, that which dispels your darkness, which takes you from ignorance to experience. Many people have been partial guru's for me, showing me something beyond myself. I have been inspired and enamored by many, but Sadhguru has left the largest impact. His very presence is all-encompassing and his wisdom is often something that needs to be contemplated when one feels confused. In the hundreds of books I've read on science, philosophy, history, culture. . .nothing compares to the ocean of bliss and knowledge that Sadhguru has within. I do not idolize Sadhguru, I don't obsessive follow all his content, in fact I have even been lazy with my Sadhana. But despite any of that, Sadhguru remains one of the greatest, most influential humans to grace this planet.
