This is such a treat. One thing I’d love to know is what Dennis thinks about the New Testament…I know the Jewish faith doesn’t recognize Jesus Christ as the Savior and it bothers me that they’re not in agreement w/ Christians. I’d love to hear their thoughts on this and why they still hold fast to the OT and not the NT…

>>
<<@briang.2218
says :
One difficulty with the “best of all possible worlds” discussion (eg is it better to have no choice but to do good) is that it’s being speculated upon by people who are irrevocably fixed in a world where we DO have a choice to do good or evil; this means our conception of Good will pretty strongly have that “freely chosen” element to it such that being totally deprived of free will would seem a horror. Even in cultures where civil liberties, for instance (though I know civil liberties aren’t quite synonymous with moral freedom) aren’t top-of-mind, one still feels stronger appreciation for someone else’s kind deed when it is not coerced from them. To a people in an alternate biopsychological composition with a different set of metaphysical realities surrounding free will, responsibility, and the Good, they probably don’t long for any manner of free will. If man is not born free, then he cannot mind his chains. All of which is to say, there is ultimately a kind of arbitrariness when one traces back the questions of “why evil, why good, why suffering, why death” far enough — the problems are so fundamental to the metaphysical bases of Being that to question them eventually becomes unintelligible. If God chooses to make humankind free because “that’s just who he is”, then we come up against the problem once more of why that’s who he is, and soon we find ourselves speculating on what it’s like to occupy his vantage-point beyond time and matter, in our efforts to understand if his choices in crafting Being make sense, and we commit already a fatal error in doing so insofar as a finite chronological entity cannot comprehend and infinite one. And so perhaps we must simply throw up our hands and decide “Intelligible or not, I will strive for the Good” — but it must be clear to us how difficult that is, to suspend the rules of reason and accept the ultimate incomprehensibility of the plight of the human.

After Israel became a state, Prime Minister Ben Gurion contracted archeologists to find proof for the Exodus. After over 40 years of looking this is one of their reports. As the Jewish archaeologists Israel Finkelstein and Neil Silberman noted: [W]e have no clue, not even a single word, about the early Israelites in Egypt: neither in monumental inscriptions on the walls of temples, nor in tomb inscriptions, nor in papyri. Israel is absent – as a possible foe of Egypt, as a friend, or as an enslaved nation

I will like to try and answer the question: Can you know someone before they are being tested? Well I would say to a certain degree, yes! There are people that base on their values or beliefs, you are certain to a degree (60% per say) on how they are going to respond to a particular situation or test, whether good or bad. Just my opinion!

Yes, Mr. Prager, that is correct! Spot on! Absolute vulnerability before the infinite mystery that Abba, "Adonai Eloheinu", is... A Japanese Zen monk may say "初心", or "Sho-Shin", "beginners mind', or in other words (not direct translation, just my own spin on what it points to): eternal receptivity... No pride, no hidden desires, 'nothing special', 'nothing extra', 'no special effort', or some extraordinary striving that leads one to bash their head against a brick wall thousands of times, expecting a different result by using the same methods... Aramaic would be "Shalu"...or "prayer"... 'The name that can be named is not the true name" would be another way to attempt to direct a student towards such vulnerability, or, "I don't know what a single thing is, or is for", as a meditative practice, to arrive at one's complete ignorance to Abba, Adonai Eloheinu... May Peace be unto you, always...

The snake was in the garden because the angels had free will and some of them had fallen. Evil is a consequence of free will. God allows free will because He loves us so much He wants us to have autonomy. But the consequence of the free will is that there will be those who turn away from God and towards evil. And when that happens I believe God is sad. Remember Jesus wept for Jerusalem

So God = Pharaoh Eve = Daughter. Something like that? Image wise also it had the opposite effect. Where Eves disloyalty cursed man while as daughters saved man
