In 1975 I worked for Gallo Wine loading trucks for delivery to the stores in Commerce CA. Just out of high school with zero skills, just a strong back. We worked 12 hour shifts, two guys loading 500 to 600 cases per truck, 10 trucks per shift. Union shop $9.10 per hour = to $54.20 per hour. There are almost no jobs paying that today. My son who is 46 with an engineering degree is only making $35.57 per hour in Everett, WA and cannot afford to buy a house, his apartment rent is $2400 per month. I know people in their 50s working fast food jobs for $10 per hour. Maybe that is why the stock market is doing so well, record profits for the corporations, record low wages for the worker.
