Respecfully some families are not worth being part off. Wish Conservatives/Christians were more open about what it means to "respect" parents and how to handle difficult cases with dignity. All this guy is doing is trying to point blame back at those who cut contact. Give me a break, clearly there are better and worse families and when a community in their faith is blind and unsupportive people leave.

You have to give to get. My whole life Iāve been a brat and terrible to my parents, yet there love was so strong for me they could never really find it in their hearts to hit me or punish me as they did my brothers. during the summer I asked my mother about her family and her history and about my fathers history. There is so much pain that your elders willingly lock in their hearts, yet they tend to be defensive towards new strange ideas(Who wouldnāt be in todays world?). If you take a moment to stop being so self centered and listen, youāll see the pain and the things theyāve been through. We ALL have problems, if we would just listen to eachother and have civil conversations before immediately trying to convert by shoving our ideas down their throat maybe weād actually get somewhere and help eachother.

Hey Frank can you exegesis this for me āWhile he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.ā āāMatthew⬠ā12ā¬:ā46ā¬-ā50⬠ā āBe ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.ā āā2 Corinthians⬠ā6ā¬:ā14ā¬-ā16⬠āKJVā¬ā¬ Thank you

A good family sticks with each other through thick and thin, through crisis and whether you agree with them or not !!! To considering somebody family, only if they agree with you, is not love at all. It is selfish motives. That is the worlds view of love. That is not love it all!!!

Theyre going down a very long road, and its sad you have to let them go. You can always pray that God puts His angels in their way. They'll have to make their own discovery before turning around to return. May Gods messengers keep them from harm or self harm. In the name of Jesus, Amen

When you think your political/religious views are more important than any human, you have failed as a human. The article mentioned standing for truth while fighting for your family. Beliefs are likely 90% flawed compared to actual truth. So when you start to put man-made constructs & fragile beliefs before a supposed loved one, you fail. Plus, religion & politics been black-balling people since their beginnings so why cry now that the youth are choosing their own toxic beliefs to avoid yours? Choose Wisdom over beliefs. Then you'll know what the truth is.

We are all born immorally ignorant leftists and must learn morality to mature to righteous adults. Those who do not learn and retain their backwards thinking are libtards who have closed minds and immoral hearts that see good as evil and evil as good. They are self-righteous hypocrites and two-faced fools. Just because someone becomes a Christian, or many who simply claim to be, they still sin and still fail. We must always strive to be better and get past our leftist flaws. When Jesus said, āJudge not lest you be judged,ā he was not saying we cannot judge right and wrong, but that we have no right to judge who will go to Heaven or Hell as if we are God. Itās one thing to avoid people when they behave wickedly, but itās another to push them away so they have no opportunity to learn. Just donāt give them anything they want. For example, I have a friend who wants me to discuss science and religion with him, but when I do, he becomes angry and abusive. He shows me āproofā that religion is false and refuses to listen to my proof that those from whom he learns are wrong, but then begs me to listen to him more. Heās not trying to learn but trying to turn me away from God. He apologizes just to inflict more of his abuse on me. That is toxic. He is trying to poison my mind and will not partake of the antidote to what is poisoning his mind. I canāt help him. Knowing me makes him worse, not better.

Whoa. Let's describe what else can cause this tragic situation, and stop pretending that the fault must be with those wicked adult children. The adult children often do know what the grandparents believe because they came out of the church system that the grandparents still belong to. And it proved to be very toxic and very traumatic for them. Given this, why on earth would they choose to expose the grandchildren to the same toxic environment? There is an assumption underlying Frank's and Natasha's arguments and the assumption is that real Christians have the truth and that their theologies are nothing but good, and can do no harm. But reality often shows otherwise. Give the above, adult children do sometimes/often find that when they let the grandparents look after the grandkids:- a. the grandparents try to feed the same toxic theology onto the grandkids and b. if the adult parents have tried to set boundaries, the grandparent simply ignore those boundaries. Given this, of course the parents will pull away. Another situation is then overly religious grandparents simply refuse to accept that their children (the adult parents) no longer believe. And whenever the adult parents and the grandkids visit, the visits become problematical and uncomfortable because the grandparents simply will not stop proselytizing. They want to save their adult children and the grandchildren. ^^ That might seem a noble enterprise but I don't think many Christians can stomach the fact that other people (including their own children) might have a different opinion when it comes to the nature of reality. And irony of ironies, no matter how much certain Christians cry about religious freedom, they certainly do not want it for other people, particularly their adult children and their grand kids. Remember, when it comes to the issue of salvation, avoiding hell, gaining heaven, and so on, Christians have never been able to universally agree. They disagreed 2,000 years ago. They disagree today. The very folk who call themselves "Christian" but whom you accuse of being "wolves in sheep's clothing" almost certainly see themselves as Christian and you as "wolves in sheep's clothing". I learnt that lesson a hard way, some 50 years ago. So what are you saving your adult children and grandkids to? No more than a theology another true Christian will look at and call - "damnable heresy". What I am not saying +++++++++++++++++ I am not saying is that no non-Christian adult children would cut their parents out because the parents are Christian. I am sure some do. I think I've heard of some who do. But there is another tragic side to this story I think both Frank and Natasha can't face. Earlier today I told my brother of a post I'd placed on Natasha's FB forum and he reminded me of something I'd forgotten. Years ago he told me of an acquaintance of his. Dad, mum, and kids. Problem is, one of the Grandparents is a religious fanatic. An absolute zealot. For the sake of the grandkids and their own peace of mind, they have had to cut off contact. Being convinced that you are correct and that your adult children are not, does not give you the right to attempt to dominate them, particularly when it comes to religious freedom. Maybe, just maybe you exposed them to religion in a manner that was extraordinarily damaging. OTOH, if you have been parents who were good to your children but they cut you off because of your faith, then I am so sorry. It's heartbreaking and distressing to have a child who is alive, but will not talk to you. I know from first hand experience. I live in hope.
