Sure looks like it. That right there tells me God has a malevolent, narcissistic nature not to mention how God plays favorites which he has been doing for thousands of years from Cain and Able, to Abrahams Nephew Lot, to Esau and jacob, to King David's Adultery, Fornication and Conspired Murder of another womans husband, to Judas and peter both comitting the same sin of betrayal and denying of Jesus yet Judas gets Hell and Peter gets a "get out of Hell free card"???, Then the two men on each side of Jesus on the cross. Our Father who art in Heaven, also brothers and sisters in Christ. Maybe being male, He had an Inclink to the male mind, that if they know she technically is my sister, they would want to impress her and by treating Him better Would like him. Indirect flirting. An opportunity to impress with potential availability of admiration and maybe something more... 🤔😳 Samuel telling the truth had been called to go anoint a king. So had He said it plainly then I don't think they would have treated Him very nicely and tried to stop him. Some people can be very sensitive when it comes to sharing stuff and can be quite dodgy when it comes to treating others as you yourself would like to be treated and loved when it comes to getting or having or sharing stuff. Of course, the fact the she was his sister is not the PRIMARY issue at hand to the intent of the question he was asked. But neither was Samuel’s answer! The PRIMARY reason Samuel was going to Bethlehem was to anoint a rival king to Saul, and of course that is exactly the information that his questioners would be most interested in knowing. I therefore see no difference in Samuel and Abraham’s behavior. But to add that Abraham said “no” in his answer seems quite misleading. He did not. He was therefore concealing rather than deceiving per the terms of this video. Also, what is he talking about the “God judged Abraham for lying”? When did that happen? I don’t remember there being any consequences or even words of disapproval. I think the distinction between the two events is more like this: Abraham and Samuel were both lacking in faith, they were afraid to trust God’s plan. Abraham resolves this by taking matters into his own hands to protect himself. Samuel resolves it by bringing the concern to God and following his instructions on how to proceed. My conclusion is that deception is not necessarily wrong, it can be permissible in extenuating and especially life-threatening circumstances, but “whatever does not come from faith is sin.” The Hebrew women also lie to Pharaoh when they refuse to murder the newborn babies. Their lie is not so much a concealment as an outright deception, and they are, of course, commended for it in Scripture.>> <<@kamerondonaldson5976 says : god effectively told gideon to lie by deceiving the midianite army into believing he had more soldiers than he actually did using torch jars.>> <<@fbomb7184 says : Jesus was always more concerned with the heart or intent. You are working on the Sabbath?? Yes, I am healing people, it’s ok. Or if a soldier has to kill the enemy as opposed to someone killing out of anger/hate. The act of ending a life is the same but the intent/the heart of the person committing the act, makes murder a sin. Lying for personal gain is certainly bad, but to protect someone innocent, e.g. “Du hast der Jews in du haus?” I believe God is ok with that.>> <<@mattm4557 says : Deception is the same thing as concealment. To conceal is to deceive. Not all deception is sinful. Context matters. First century Christian’s worshipped and met in secret. Sometimes people lie, keep truth to themselves, or tell half-truths to spare feelings or save lives, that’s different then being a liar (someone who habitually lies for self gain). To be a spy is to lie and God has men spy out the land in Old Testament as well. David’s wife lied to spare his life from Saul, Rehab lied to save Gods spies. Some people lied to hide and save Jews from nazis during WW2 in Germany. Nuance and judgment matter.>> <<@kaiokenkazz says : Question should a asked was Samuel to sacrifice Saul.>> <<@Whoo_Boy says : Clearly there is no lie, nor a command to lie in that passage of scripture.>> <<@AlexDiaz-wx3ng says : Well said.>> <<@xxrgxxcasco says : Blah blah blah... He came to sacrifice and to anoint David. He didn’t mention anointing David so it isn’t a lie. In the Book of Tobit however, the Archangel Raphael blatantly lies 😅 but at the end he tells the truth. Read it, meditate on it, and PRAY ABOUT IT! If it bothers you so much. This is why God throws curve balls in his word. To share his presence with you in his infinite grace.>> <<@justaguy328 says : That objection seems to be an objection against wisdom. There's a proper way to handle situations with integrity. There are many times when proffering the full truth of the situation when the full truth of the situation would harm the mission, as its not the proper time or the place for it to be revealed, and you are still able to maintain your integrity. We probably run into a countless number of these situations throughout life and we inherently know it to be the right course of action. For some reason, it's like skeptics completely lose their ability to reason when it comes to the bible. I think, at bottom, you can't learn anything from the Bible if all you are looking for is why its wrong. You cannot learn if you believe there is nothing there to be taught. Understanding requires faith. As a former lifelong atheist, I cannot believe I went almost 30 years of my life without seeing that bed rock foundational aspect of reality. I suspect there are atheists who would read that sentence about faith and understanding and wouldn't be able to see the truth in it. How something can be so obvious but for some reason you are blinded to it. As the hymn says, "I was blind, but now I see". Man that is so true!>> <<@axl124 says : So an intentional hiding of information regarding the question asked is ok in gods eyes. Somehow that isn't allowed in a court of law, almost as if human beings didn't get the law from the bible. Funny that. If you asked someone why they had arrived wherever, and they only told you some of why they were there, and you saw them intentionally doing something different than what you had been told, you would recognize that you had been lied to. Why are you here is an all encapsulating question. Not, is that all, or are you sure that's all you came to do. Not do not lie. Swear no oaths simply let your no be no and yes be yes. Bible doesn't say you can't lie.>> <<@kingzamn45 says : God's commandment is "Do not bare falls witness" ..but sadly many Christians take this to mean "do not lie".. however lying can be done even to achieve a good deed or in a manner that is not sinful as with the case of Samuel.. however providing falls testimony ( AKA witnessing ) is a sin cos a person becomes a witness only during legal matters.. so by providing a falls testimony you can actually destroy a person's life, kill or send someone down a path to commit sins unknowingly even as was with the case of Abraham.>> <<@francmittelo6731 says : "Is Lying Ever Justified in the Bible?"
