Obviously that has its drawbacks, the worst probably being handle thickness since the gears would likely not all be in a shared plane. Depending on the style, size, and which state (U.S.A.). I can carry them like a standard folding pocket knife. Are you allowed to carry any sort of Automatic knives where you are? CRKT makes a few unique opening knives.
