I struggle with this way more than I care to admit. Knowing is half the battle. "I AM WORKING ON IT". The humans who have gotten to grow up with this man are so lucky.

ββBecause youβve made yourself bigger than who you are.β Weβre making the small self bigger than what it is. But the true self is limitless and can only be experienced when we do not make ourselves/small self bigger than what it is. Knowing this helps me drop my attachment trying to make myself bigger. Itβs just getting in the way of natural bliss

If you manage yourself, nothing in life is tough. If you enjoy the *process* of doing it, itβs easy, you donβt need motivation, & βtoughβ is fun - but if you do it just to only to meet a *goal* without deciding to enjoy the process, to have a certain intensity, then it can fall into any negative thing you choose to make of it. The point is that you have a choice in how you see it, how you manage your thoughts about it. Itβs not about the thing you do, itβs how you manage your mind, body, & energies - if you manage yourself, nothing is βtoughβ.
>>
<<@SydMountaineer
says :
Heβs right, I have experience of this. There are things I did in the past (one of them is physical fitness related) that I wanted to do again, but it seemed βtoughβ, too hard, yet when I did them in the past, I didnβt even have to try or motivate myself. The difference is WHY I did what I did back then compared to the future: it was not to accomplish a goal, I was intensely into it because I enjoyed the process. Iβve heard Sadhguru talk about being intensely into doing something vs being goal accomplished, and this is exactly it. He talked about it in a video that showed images of people doing work sitting at a desks with computers to reach a goal (like a paycheck, raise to a higher level in a company, etc) VS people doing things because they loved the process of doing it, and how they were so much more successful, because they had a fire about what they were doing, the process of it, not goals that begin and end.

I burdened myself with responsibilities in the 1st half of my life (children, divorces, sick/dying parents, cancer, etc.etc.) while I became awakened, too. Tough life experiences pushed me to think! Although I agree what Sadhguru says with, yet the consequence of our past choices will not disappear at once and responsibilities remain on our shoulders. Each of us have a very different life settings. The strategy, how we manage to solve these responsibilities can be "easy" or "hard" depending also on the contribution of the different actors in it!
