Fighting aside; having more of your hand free to apply pressure, support objects and use your thumb without having to drop your knife in-between cuts makes it potentially excellent for *ALL* manner of bushcraft and processing prey. I'd have to handle one myself to know if it's actually got the goods but it might better than having a karambit just swinging on your pinky while you tie a knot.

"The point is always away from you." Well, not really. Thorsten often has the point towards his neck. If you put your hand's up in a typical pose it gets dangerous in my opinion. A strike into your cover/defence can be very dangerous then.

the “danger” of breaking your fingers when using ring knives is real. personally, i no longer carry ring knives for SD because of this issue. obviously its not impossible to work around (bc karambits are historically successful), but having the knife wrapped around your finger bones presents an issue that is not present on a normal knife handle. i have no concern about somebody else being able to twist the knife out of my grip and break my fingers. however, if the knife gets stuck in something heavy, and that heavy thing falls over, quite a bit of torque can be exerted on the finger bones.

Hmmm... failing 4 out of 10 times in a quick draw danger scenario is no good when fine motor skills is degraded by stress. It requires a conceiled quick draw pressure test in sparring with several people of varying skill. I'd still prefer something conventional.

<<@metern

I never thought a finger would break. Only that the handle would bend and squeeze your index finger when stabbing. 😁
>>
<<@metern
says :
I was one of the people who commented during the prototyping and making of the knife, that sed that the handle is to weak and can bend and squeeze your finger if you do a hard stabbing attack, because i thought the handle was to thin. And the mettal had to be a really expensive alloy. I was skeptical in all but the two last videos. And now im glad i was wrong 😃

Joerg, I love the design. Please make a version that auto restracts; this would be incredibly useful in a scenareo where you want to keep it on, and be able to use it onl,y when you use your thumb to push it out

A double ended non lethal version (no blade) would be beneficial for a safer self defense, a non trained user could still do some damage to an attacker without actually severely wounding them. Also a trained person could use it to hit pressure points on an attacker to cause some debilitating attacks.

Breaking of fingers is not a problem it is degloving , ( your skin is the glove and when with twisting pressure grabs the skin . With a quick pull it literally pulls the skin off. ( Pictures are nasty to view)

Hopefully this design isn't considered also brassnuckles. Alot of places doesn't allow knives with D-guard handles. Shame if it is being that a person is only allowed to stab attackers.

<<@johnsung9302
says :
Like the karambit knife, the snake knife, the snake knife will need a bit more training than the karambit, because it is a new type of knife and as it is not traditional to the usual knife. And from this video, it probably has more potential in regards to lethal and/or less lethal uses and probably is far more versatile than the karambit,

never mind what ''they'' say Joerg, your ''snake'' is 'great!... I bought one from China a simular, but different design, The handle and the blade are the same, it leaves your fingers free to grab, works just like yours is just half the size, the blade starts in the middle of the grip and the tip only is out... great for work, fight, 7-8 grips awesome... I carry it around my neck for over a year, one piece of 440c steel...
