Consciousness exists in all living beings. Source of consciousness is also same. In a sense the very same consciousness is exists in every living being. But expresses in various ways to create more beautiful and diverse world. Consciousness uses brain to project it's physical awareness to external world. It also internal exactly why we have thoughts as well as emotions. So my question is does consciousness survive after our death? This is a Mystery we can only solve only after our death. Western Science was entirely based on Material Reductionism, whose abiding principles are objective reality and value free science. A whole lot of knowledge, technology, progress was achieved by this. But as this science progressed, it ran into reality, like uncertainity principle, relativity theory, incomplete theory, etc... The one group which still tries to hold on to Material Reductionism is neuroscience. No wonder neuroscience could not succeed as much as maths, physics, chemistry. Neuroscience still holds that brain is the basis which creates the mind, which creates consciousness. But how the electrical circuitry of the nerves creates the mind modifications is still a mystery. Consciousness is a problem still further away. So many neuroscientists hold that consciousness is at best a part of mind, or at worst doesn't exist. Those who equate consciousness with mind are struggling with the question of how the physical brain creates consciousness, and calls it The Hard Problem of Consciousness.
