Thank you 🙏 Sadhguru. This is so true. My mother was extremely controlling since my early childhood—due to not feeling safe within her inner and outer world (I learned as an adult), since she, herself, had many childhood through adulthood traumas, challenges, hardships, heartbreaks, pain, and suffering. Since she was also very abusive in various ways, she was mostly UNAPPROACHABLE to me during most of my childhood. I feared her very much, and wasn’t even able to share that I didn’t want to be dropped off again at my grandmother’s house—practically every summer and winter break—since my young uncle had molested me (which I eventually forgave). Even though I wasn’t able to express my inner truths verbally, I expressed my sadness with teary eyes, before she was about to leave for her vacation with my adoptive dad; but she threatened that I better not cry, and my uncle jokingly said that I wouldn’t be able to blink then. This was true, so I looked up to prevent my tears from falling. I don’t recall going to her for any concerns or challenges, because I feared being blamed and punished as usual. I wish that many awakening parents become a true friend for their children as well, like Sadhguru suggested. Sometimes, when I watch a heartfelt scene within a movie or TV show, where a parent (or both) are so loving to their small or adult children, I feel DEEPLY MOVED 🥹, as if I was able to have this experience vicariously through imaginary characters (or even in real life through others). I was recently reminded that, as adults—if we haven’t experienced mostly loving and supportive parents throughout childhood (and even adulthood)—we can BE the Divine parents (Divine Masculine & Divine Feminine Essence) to our inner-child, sharing Divine Love, Divine Wisdom, & Divine Power.

My mother attempted to treat me as my future boss would. To train me for that life. I ran away at 16.

Children do need a boss. It's called good parenting. You can also be their friend, but it can't get in the way of disciplining them properly.

That's the worst advice I ever heard. There are plenty of narcissists wasting in prison because their parents wanted to be their friend. Children need protection, direction, and discipline. If they don't get it from their parents they'll get it from the police.
