These gentlemen want to impose their work culture on their hapless subordinates. Have they paid any attention to family life, lonely wife, and missing birthdays of and reading bedtime stories to their young children. While Sadguru's analysis is right on in an ideal situation for a person who loves work, it does not address what is required for India today. So let's keep aside Sadguru and look at the reality of India. I believe Narayana Murthry went totally overboard with 70hr/wk work schedule. If you add 1-2 hrs for work travel, we are talking about 80hrs of work and a stressful young life, which leaves nothing but misery to the individual and leads to depraved, degenerate, unhealthy chaotic society. Especially young people with children suffer the most. In fact young people with children need the most flexibility with regard to work hrs. I believe 40hrs @ 10hrs/day 4 days work and 3 days (Fri-Sun) of full rest is what is required. In case of a holiday in a week, it would still be 4 days of work with work on Friday of that week. 3 day weekend would allow people to spend time for thier spiitual sadhana, family, children's education etc. 40hrs may not be enough for the rapid growth that NM is talking about. But why should we worry about numbers. Slow down, find peace.
